I'm looking for a strong build that parties and/or raid parties need the most. I haven't played ddo in a few years and am thinking about coming back, but I just want to focus on 1 character. I really don't have a preference in the class, I just want a build that won't get rejected from most parties. Is a healer still usually always needed? Thanks!

Heals, crowd control, trapping, dps, are all welcome in most groups. Healers are the least popular, though, so usually the easiest to find groups with.

The new enhancements really help healers, though; get enough WIS to cast lvl 9 spells and the rest in STR and CON, take empower heal, then grab a greataxe and spend the rest of your feats on melee. Or, max WIS and nuke stuff in between healing.

looks solid. 2 questions... 1. by 20 he should be able to find/buy/earn at least 1 +2 tome... why not start with 15 str instead of 16 and throw the extra points into charisma or something? and 2. why healing dragonmark so late?

Well I just unlocked Drow, so would this build work with Drow? And to compensate for the lack of lesser healing dragonmark maybe swap rage and cure moderate wounds at levels 6 and 11? And also with drow I could unlock nothing hidden, would help with instances where I dont know where all the traps are and helps with the lack of spot skill?

    Default Need Build!

Hey guys, I've been looking on the forums for quite a while and I think I'm ready to come back to DDO. Seems like a lot has changed after 3 years. I was thinking about making a drow character. So guys what makes a great DPS solo-able Drow build? Making builds have always been confusing to me. It would be greatly appreciated if you helped out this noob,
    Here are the requirements:
    - 28pt build
    - Not Druid or Monk as I haven't bought them
    - I dont mind getting tomes but not too much please
    - I dont mind getting VIP for the levels of class that I need

I was looking at this: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...er-Build-Cetus which looks great. But im not too sure what the class progression is like.

EDIt: Im not great with builds and my knowledge of this game is poor. If someone can give me a up-to level 20 map design of the build would be great.

    Hello guys,
I'm almost a newbie and I would start a new char .. I've a F2P account .. Only Drow race unlocked .. No tomes .. I'm looking for a self-sufficient build with maxed trapping, evasion and some healing .. no preference in dps type .. melee, ranged, magic or a mix .. tell me what fit better with that build.
    Thank you in advance.

Yea, Cetus is an end-game completionist build; it requires just an insane amount of gear, which by the time you get it, the game will have changed and that build won't be good, anymore. It certainly will not work from a 28-point build.

I always suggest that cleric is a good place to start; excellent soloability, either by melee + heals or as an offensive caster, and always easy to find a group.

If you want drow, their high DEX, INT, and CHA tend to make them good rogues, wizards, sorcerers, and bards; bard and rogue go particularly well together, for evasion + lots of skill points.

The Exploiter is a good, if older, build; 18 ranger/1 rogue/1 fighter, take rogue at level 1, keep search and disable device up for trap skills, ranger for dps (TWF mostly and swap to bow for manyshot), fighter for an extra feat and some enhancement goodies.

Remember that if you use VIP to splash levels from a class you don't own, you won't be able to play that character if you stop being VIP, until you buy the class.

"Things designed to do everything rarely do anything well."

Trapping and heals are particularly difficult to put together, except perhaps in a rogue-splashed bard.

    1. That would be fine, although I don't consider extra CHA necessary in the long run, but it would make things a bit easier at the beginning.
    2. Question of priorities: since bards get Cure spells, I didn't see the need to take the DM that early; which lets me focus on melee feats first. I took Extend most for Haste & Displacement, which you get at bard lvl 7. The real advantage to the DM is getting Heal, which bards lose access to by MCing.

Honestly, you can make pretty much any race / class combo work out, but probably the best option for drow is a Pale Trapper-style build: i.e., wiz 18 / rog 2 Pale Master. A drow version starts INT 20 CON 14 with last two pts into CHA (+1 UMD) or STR. The earliest levels are the toughest: you'll have low DPS, low HPs, low SPs, and no self-healing until wiz lvl 3 (zombie form). Fortunately, the earliest levels also go by the quickest; once you make it lvl 6 or 7, things get much smoother.

W/out monk, Cetus doesn't work as described; w/out tomes & extra stat pts from TRing, it's much harder to pull off due to feat pre-reqs; and w/out your EDs lined up, it isn't fully functional - in particular, you need Bane of Undeath to use Divine Might.

In short, I suggest you keep build-shopping; Cetus is not what I would call "newbie-friendly." Shameless plug: see my Faithsworn Hunter thread for something sorta-similar but newbie-friendlier; no Evasion and self-heals are quite limited (until you pick up Rejuvenation Cocoon), but good DPS (both melee & ranged) and good saves.

The beauty of the Acrobard is it works fine with any race or # of build pts; though I would probably say human is better than drow for all the usual reasons (+1 feat, extra skill pts, heal amp, Versatility, etc.). For a drow I'd be tempted to switch to TWF and go for Knife Spec instead, using daggers.

Eagle's Splendor wands are cheap-ish and will meet his spellcasting requirement for the first several levels until he acquires some decent +CHA gear. That said, the difference between STR 16 CHA 8 and STR 15 CHA 11 is largely negligible; what matters is hitting base STR 23 by lvl 24 to take Overwhelming Crit.

The DPS should be pretty good, at least by F2P standards. On the melee side, it has 90% offhand procs, Keen Edge (+1 crit range), Power Surge (+8 STR), all the Kensei static dmg bonuses (inc. Weap Spec and GWS feats), Ram's Might, and Divine Might. On the ranged side, it's got Manyshot and Improved Precise Shot; plus all the various STR bonuses apply to archery thanks to Bow Strength feat.

When I posted that build, the builder hadn't been updated for U19, so I wasn't able to show Enhancements. But the first post shows a summary of how the APs should be spent by lvl 20. I tend to reset my Enhancements periodically to optimize them for a specific level / gear layout anyway, so a lvl-by-lvl breakout isn't that useful to me.

As for gear: well, that depends on what content you can access, but in general you want anything which boosts your DPS (+STR, Speed, Deadly, Seeker, Manslayer) and anything which boosts your survivability (Resistance item, +CON/DEX/CHA items, False Life, Blurry / Ghostly, etc.). Of course, only so many gear slots to go around, so invariably you have to make tradeoffs & sacrifices.

Can someone point a build for a bard, i was thinking on bard 18/1 cleric/1 rogue OR 18/1 cleric/1 fighter.
Is there a big advantage of going 18 bard instead of, say, 15? Also it would be a thf and i have 36pt.

Bard 16 gets you lvl 6 spells (e.g., MCMW and Otto's Irresistible); lvl 18 gets you an extra tier of core enhs (I like Virtuoso for song regen).

Hello everyone I am back again with another question about another possible build. I just unlocked artificer and was wondering if anyone could point out some possible combos with this one. I was thinking Art/rog and spec for heavy repeaters but are there some other combos and what would they look like. Dont have to go into heavy detail but maybe some brief outlines of the possibilities? Any insight would be helpful, my main is rocking it and I am having a blast with this game I just cant get enough of it.

Also should I roll this as human for the feats and skill points or should I roll as warforged for the added benefits that my repair spells will heal myself as well as my iron defender or even drow for increased int and cha and dex? I have been trying to research on artificer and I have found a bit of info but its either outdated or people are talking about 2nd and 3rd life stuff which does not apply to me at all.
