Question - regarding the crystal cove event, will it be open to all players or only those at pax?

From what I have heard hear, this is the same event/challenge that they ran at PAX East this year, that I won on day one. Same event as the Crystal Cove anniversary event, EXCEPT you have 2 minutes. They also up'd the amount of crystals you guy for killing mobs.

That being said, it was just for attendees.

Also you had to use premade standardized characters, a fighter, ranger and cleric. Or a sorc, if you asked. My group won at the end of day with all sorcs.

They give you a taste for free, then once you are hooked, they make you pay for it. Sounds like a good business plan. Their bills don't pay themselves

Grinding TP is not grinding favor. TP is not favor permanent. If I have all the favor in the game and not enough TP I wont be able to get artificer at release. There's no equality, no correlation between the two considering that.

As for grinding favor on every server to get the TP. This also doesn't equal having the favor already.

This is a really bad move IMO. I understand wanting to generate revenue. I've been a premium player since the beginning of F2P and I've payed for every pack, race, class, and account upgrade option. I had been planning on reactivating my sub when the new update comes out, but I won't if I have to pay to unlock Artificers on top of the $15 to go VIP. Nerts to that.

If Turbine wants Artificers to be an exclusively purchasable class, so be it. But do us a favor and stop pretending that it's unlockable through favor when the favor is non-existent.... excuse me, available Soon.

Thank you for the update Memnir im not to happy about the fact that to enjoy the new class I would have to wait because I am sure as hades not going to pay on top of my sub fees to play any class or new race if we allow them to get away with this they will continue on this path and uh uh. I support this game with my sub fees and buying fluff items as it is, but this is too much.

As a fellow VIP, I don't understand this...have you already burnt through your normal monthly TP and the bonus Summer TP? I mean, that bonus Summer TP is like they gave us Artificer for 'free', right?

Or are you just taking the position that classes (and maybe races) should be included in VIP? It's the principle of the thing?

Its the principle Rimble point blank if they start charging us for new classes when will it stop will we see content updates that we no longer get to enjoy without shelling out TP for it first? Its not a good slope to me at all it takes once again away from this VIP monicker they gave us some vip when once again we have to shell out why even have a subscription base? To me its a bad precedent that I will not give into I will use the points I get how I feel necessary and I will wait till I can play Artificers with the favor I have earned playing the game for years now. I do not want to send the message that the support I give via my uninterrupted sub fees is not good enough which is the message I get from this.

for me, class and race are content. Therefore should be available via VIP for nothing extra. That said, i don't mind that its favor or tp just like fvs, because that's a precedent that's already been set but I do mind that its impossible to get the favor at the point of launch. That is more or less saying "pay to get it early".

That's ok though because that's what VIP is for. You get access to content early, right? Oh wait, this time you don't.

I look at it this way they are testing dangerous waters basically "We already get them to pay for sub fees for things that most can buy and own outright via premium or grind out favor for." The perks are the turbine points which as a vip the only saving grace of that is the occassional double point and the fact that we generally can spend them on anything we wish to. To make a new content update ie class available only threw paying for them is bad many people have been vehement about VIP not feeling as such this just adds fuel to that fire and where does it stop if we allow ourselves to pay for such things?

When the next new area is created they decide well we got them to pay for Artificers before being able to unlock them with favor why not test that? And what about any other class released after this? If we ever see druids a class many have been begging for, for many years now when they finally do get them out will we have to pay up front and wait months to unlock them to or even worst only get to play them if we pay on top of being subscribers? Seriously how are they going to ever motivate anyone to become a subscriber or vip which is a joke with stuff like this? It takes away my motivation to even bother with a subscription there is absolutely few if anything save the luxury of not having to worry about what content to buy and unlock and with this new thing that maybe taken away to. Its lame though to sum it all up.

For me it is the simple fact that the availability to 'earn' Arty, via Favor, will not be in game until the end of the year.

Tying Arty to House C makes complete sense. I kinda like that. It's flavor, its fluff, and it's fine by me. It is different then what we are used to, ie Drow and FvS favor based unlocks by making it House specific vs Total favor unlock. That's fine by me too.

What does chaff my a$$ is that I cannot earn it for months to come. I just want to be able to 'earn' an Arty at launch of $ecret of the Artificer$ and not at launch of U12 at the end of the year.

On a more personal note, even though ViP, spent nearly 2k points in supplies, Xp pots, TR Heart, upgraded bank space, in prep to TR into Arty at Launch. All that, and plans to TR, are now shelved for months and the excitement for U11 has lessened. For me to play one now I would have to buy points, wait couple months for ViP points to buy them, or wait til U12. None really sit well with me.

Yes,it would be quite a bit of grinding, but seeing as this thread is full of VIPs that apparently can not afford to buy artifiers or do not want to pay extra for them, I thought it might be an alternatie they would live with. If they start grinding now the could earn enough TP to get artificers by the time they are in the store.

No I cant live with mindless grinidng that would really me want to quit lets see if they make it 1000 tp you would have to grind like 4k favor well you could do a new toon on the new server and shorten it a bit I guess but for sure not worth the insanity of it I will just forget about the class and just continue on as I have proably wont ever have one as I dont need the new quests to level any of my characters including my tr

Which takes away the point of being a VIP which was a stupid monicker in the first place. Its not the point that it can be done via grinding out tp which VIPs shouldnt have to do. Or brought with points given. Its the fact that there is so little to give reason to stay or become a subscriber as it is that this is just another nail in the coffin of that pay base.

As it stands premiums only gripe is having to wait a day or two after VIPs to play in new content they can unlock things by buying them and own them out right. They can even grind out or pay the points to get into quests on elite if they want.

What honestly can VIPs say we have that really makes us stand out right now? Cause with this latest thing we cannot even say that we do not have to pay to unlock new items added. Or can play a new class without the worry of if we can afford to. I will have the points needed to unlock Artificer I am sure I will just wait on a matter of principal I do not want to worry that every time we get a new update for something we wish to enjoy that we will have to pay extra upfront to do it.
