it seems alot of these items are actually very good, and have some interesting unique effects. the only downside is that they're coming from a lvl 12 quest chain. And it'll be hard to justify some of the items over epic gear (which makes sense). altho some of the items are still very situationally useful.

I can see my barb picking up the bow str and bracers just for shooting at the queen. saves me crafting a min 2 returner. Additionally the heavy pick upgraded with maiming is a nice substitute for a GS offhand in epic. Slightly less base damage and 1d6 instead of 2d6 (holy tier 1) but you get two bursts instead of a burst/blast.

alot of these are very competive with GS items, weapons or accessories (which also have the same ML roundabout) which is awesome for newer players/characters.

Downside is theres no epic. the first four quests were alot of fun to play and very well done, I'd expect these next couple are similar. A few simple upgrades to these items and they would be extremely valuable epic items and highly sought after. Not to mention all the armor's we're seeing that are not used in the crafting process. There's real potential in almost all the items we've seen (trinket excluded).

I'd love to see a few of these quests go epic. Even if it was the last quest in both series. (as some of the other ones were a tad easy, but the end one and the minotaur city one could be quite challenging on epic) The weapons could easily be solved by keeping whatever fused property and simply gaining a base damage increase, an upgrade to existing properties, and a slot. Being able to craft/fuze then also epicify one of these items would be alot of fun (for me atleast). It creates a very custom made piece of equipment.

an epic bow that grants bow str? yes please (just keep it below some of the other bows in awesome sauce, and you're good to go)
the archery bracers? up the damage and give a slot done
staff? x3 crit and maybe taint of evil just to be fair

epic has been a nice addition with the last couple modules, giving capped characters a way to enjoy this new content. As most of the level ranges released so far, go by far too fast already. And to be honest, theres no way alot of the content can compete with some of the already existing experience ***** quests. Why run sentinals when you have deleras, or the droam pack when you have wis king? Or red fens when you have shadow crypt? The best thing about alot of those packs is the epic option. Now the droam pack has some VERY nice loot for the level, more so than the rest really. But the exp is lacking, making it alot easier to farm this and hand me down or prep for a TR. At level is more of a PITA than anything else. As you do outlevel the gear shortly anyway.

aside from a few select items from the previous mods, alot of the epic items havent been worth crafting. Sentinals was very build specific. Alot of the red fens items dont stack (spell casting sets), making everyone want the few good sets when theres actually quite a large amount of items. house P items were so so, but are more of poor man's epics compared to Von or DQ loot. These last two packs would have alot of desirable loot if it went epic. And honestly the items wouldnt need a very large upgrade to really make them endgame usable. They're desirable b/c they're unique, the purple background would more or less be a power adjustment to compete with other endgame loot.

I was wanting to make a Maiming StoneDust Handwraps, however I wasn't lucky enough to loot the handwraps, and I lose my VIP on Monday, and will not be actively playin DDO over the Holidays as I'll have my children visiting. So I give up. Could someone who is having fun and collecting, post a SS of an upgraded handwrap, with either vampirism or maiming? Thanks in advance!
So... you can get Stonedust Handwraps with Vengeful or Maiming?

EDIT: Also, Hooked Blade with Bodyfeeder or Destruction.

If I read the interface correctly, yes, you can have a Bodyfeeder, Limb Chopping Khopesh at level 12...

    ***UNLESS***

If when you craft these, it changes the base level of the item

I don't know if it will. I have not crafted these items, I am just giving you a look at the way the crafting is done in the altar.

Demon Fever[1d8 con damage on crit DC22 Fort. negates]
    Destructive = Destruction
Petrifying = Stone Prison [on vorpal strike turns target to stone DC17 Fort save negates]

basically taking the affects of the Rocksplitter, Stonedust Handwraps, and Blade of Fury and placing it on the Update 8 Items.

Again, I don't know if the DC's get upgraded, or anything of that nature... we will have to wait and see when their crafted and posted.

And this is exactly the problem. They create ranged loot (finally!) but it is suited for those that are not good at it. This is just like Storm from the Demon Queen raid, which grants a nice +4 to hit bonus so wizards can plink away with it and maybe hit something. Longbow users just use the Silver Longbow until they can make GS and that is about all they have to look forward to. Why don't they make ranged items for characters who are good at ranged damage and want to be better? Any ranged character worth their salt can hit things easily since there is no power attack to drop your attack roll and they can stand still easier than melee to get the extra hit bonuses on iterative attacks. The bracers grant +2 att/+1 dmg when they would be better served (for a ranged character) to grant +1 att/+2 dmg or maybe 3 or 4 ranged damage. They grant proficiency, which isn't needed by ranged character. The vorpal sonic damage is actually pretty sweet and doesn't suffer from the evasion problem of the shocking version. The named bow grants bow strength, which also isn't needed by a ranged character. I like the crippling on it at least.

I think they are trying to get people trying out ranged combat so that maybe when they take the time to fix it people won't think it is a waste of developer time.

i agree with you on the bracers (altho they're still somewhat nice on a ranged char regardless) but the bow is an exception here. Yes you pretty much nailed the progression for a ranged character for most of the leveling process. Almost useless on a ranger, but pretty much the only bow worth a dang for high strength characters without ranger levels. BTW there are several epic bows that are worth the time investment.

Quite the contrary epic chronoscope and epic red fens both have alot of nice gear for several builds. For red fens there are several high caliber sets and the gem of many faces open things up for it further.

I think we may have seen the last of epic to be honest and I have no idea what will be its replacement.

This is poor analysis. What this bracer item is really saying is lower your dexterity and bump up your strength if you make a ranged character.

no argument there, but how much loot are any of ur characters using from epic sentinals or the house P pack?

yeh red fens has some nice stuff, and I gave it credit, but it has alot of junk too. the caster focused set items are lackluster (much like the ToD caster items) unless they're made to stack or work in conjunction with the rest of our gear

THis has been exacerbated by spell-boosting clickies/pots granting a bigger bonus than static items in addition to their longer durations. It's possible, now, to get through most quests riding exclusively on the clickies. It's nice, because you've freed up an item slot or two, but it makes introducing items with these static bonuses difficult, as they will almost always be seen as being weaker.

Any info yet on what is needed to upgrade the +5 stat named items from U7? (e.g. Katra's Wit the +5 CHA ring with "Battle-scarred") I saw early in this thread that these would be updated to +6 stat versions but with no mention of what was needed.

2 of the Marks. It also gives the crown True Seeing and upgrades the Intimidate and Diplomacy bonuses to +13.

BTW, drop rate seems extremely low on those. Ran Siegebreaker twice with a full party, only saw one drop.

I like how named non-Epic loot has been getting more and more interesting with the last few updates. Keep it up Turbine!

I get most of my marks by completeing the Chain, and grabbing the Chain End Reward (same place as the upgradeable weapons).
