    Default link beaters plz

Because we all know how difficult shroud is and the necessity of inventory checks to avoid failure, I humbly request you show me 'link beaters' responses. Bonus points if you're a paladin and it isn't a holy sword blank.

Ok, I have one, and his answer(once he's at Shroud level) will be thus...

"I am the Warforged Mage! I cast the spells that make Harry fall down!"

I have become highly skeptical of the way people filter for idiots in shroud. For the longest time I linked my +3 Holy Burst of GEOB handwraps and got in no problem. I then decided one day to be lazy and just leave my T2 minII khopesh's on on just beat on him....... shocking, to say the least. Probably does about 3x the damage as my "acceptable" wraps. If I were to link those swords however, I would be auto-declined as a moron. (and have been)

Since then I have just assumed that anyone who requires me to link my beaters is doing it wrong. If I am in total panic mode and need a shroud fix, I now link my +1 holy Great Club with Force Ritual. (thank you aflac). I am sure that will pass with flying colors. after all....it is a beater......

I typically link my DR beaters.

Shroud may be easy but why take someone that does 10-15 damage less per swing than someone who beats DR?

because I would say that close to 90% of the lfm's I have applied to that say "link beaters" have no idea what kind of damage those weapons will do in said hands, they will just take whatever they think will bypass. The fact is, what "bypasses" may not always the best choice for the person applying.

We did a masterwork run in a half hour. There are constantly weird runs going on (hezrou). peoples' idea of what is "needed" in shroud is highly blown out of proportion. If someone is worried about that extra 10-15 damage....again, I say they are probably doing it wrong.

This is for your average pug mind you. If there are speed runs, etc posted. Then yes, I want geared out to the nuts.

Default +1 to thread for good laughs

Heck, I recently attempted a shroud run on my cleric(me level 18, some others level 20) and the DPS could not even DPS the portals. I was frantically looking through my inventory to see if I had a greater construct bane, which I had left back in the bank.

You know, thinking that as the cleric I did NOT need to bring a portal beater.

We bailed on part I. First time I ever had to do that ever. Even when we were level 13s(when cap was 16) I never had to bail on part I.

What I do remember on that run was that there were three monks in the group.

I survived the scary events in 2009, 2010, and 2011. 2011 did not reward those that played by the rules.

IMO the people who post "link your DR breakers" fall into 3 categories

    1) They are running hard/elite difficulty where bypassing DR is more important
    2) They are Shroud vets tired of pileons who cannot beat portals, who take 3 rounds (and even 2) on Harry in part 4, who cannot outdamage the troll's regen, etc. etc.
    3) They are newbies who need people with DR to carry them through a normal Shroud run

Two of those reasons are perfectly acceptable in my opinion.

Speed runs are really more about pace and mindset then weapons.

I meant having to ask for one

My first shroud PUG did not ask for beaters. We wiped
My second one did, and we completed.

guess what my impression was based on this.

Not to burst the bubble but all for those are actually pretty bad. Icy does nothing so its moot really. A simple met of pg will out dps the banes. Onther than a B toon there is no reason evn the average player cant have a min 2
