Thats a huge fail in my opinon on artificers they are a base eberron class and should be at least free to VIPs this is one more push towards old republic for me I refuse to grind favor or buy a base class.

Nope, you're the one who is incorrect. Turbine is changing what VIPs get, because they're creating a new character class which is not available from favor and then not including it in VIP access.

They have a plan in the works to give the new class for favor eventually, but until the the day that happens, Artificer is not a favor-unlockable class.

To say that the Artificer class included in U11 is favor-unlockable is flatly untrue.

A_D's correct here. My main character has max favor. Max. All quests elite. All. And yet, when this goes live, I will not be able to make an artificer. Even when this goes live and I do the quests on elite that it brings, I will not be able to make an artificer. It's buy now, or wait until another update after it's released to get it.

With drow, they introduced it, and turns out that I had more than enough favor for it. In fact, if I hadn't, I could have gone out that same day and gotten it.

When FvS came out, I was 200 favor shy from unlocking it. So that same day I went and did 200 favor worth of questing and unlocked the class.

With this, I'll have the max favor possible, either total or house specific, and I will still have to wait an unspecified time for either 1) enough quests to get enough favor or 2) the unlocking option based on my favor earned from this pack (depending on how you interpret Memnir's statement).

You are making it very very hard to stay Turbine... I want to, cause I don't want to find a new game and start from scratch, but you are making it very hard.

FvS isnt a base class so it didnt bother me artificer is a base class and this torq's me off to no end and I wasnt thinking old republilc but now I am or hunting up something new

I wont be paying for a class that will probably still be bugged in some way at its release. Turbine really are insane or they are waging that their player base is insane enough to pay for something like that. Its like asking people to play to test near enough.

I'm quite amused at the number of people who act like this is even a bad thing. They could have done like Monk and told you that you had to pay for it. Instead, they're saying pay for two content packs and we'll even throw in the class for free. Yes you have to grind favor. But it could be a lot worse. I know Favored Soul came out when the game went F2P and I'm honestly trying to remember how much favor you had available back then. Favored Soul was 2500 favor and I think you practically had to do every quest back then and I'd assume a good portion of those would have had to be elite runs. So in a way, we're being cut a break by the devs. They could have required a significant amount of time in exchange for getting it free.

VIP's dont pay for monk and we should pay for this and I wont although I love the class

Drow & Favored Soul are not free to VIP either. Artificer is in the same category, you can favor grind it per server or you can just buy it. The difference between VIP & Premium is that VIP doesn't have to buy the adventure packs to earn the favor for Artificer. This is basically it for me. I would suggest you buy Artificer so that you can enjoy its OP features before they nerf it in the update afterwards where favor will unlock it for everyone.

Drow isnt a base race in Eberron and FvS isnt a core class halforcs are a base race and artifciers are a core class that is the diff.

I actually like that they are somewhat gating the release of the artificer into DDO.
I think it'll have slightly less of an impact on the server economies, with things like repeating crossbows, great crossbows, and bastard swords, which are going to shoot up in price the second that this patch goes life.

I have no problem waiting for the unlock. Some people will have a problem with that, and will buy it. It's all good.

As a premium player, I'm just happy the class will be unlockable at all. End of this year doesn't even sound that bad.

For VIPS its a bit of a slap in the face. All of this big hype we are reading about artificers and next thing we know we neither get them free like Horc, Helf and Monk or can unlock them with favour like FvS, Drow. Im beginning to believe we are just getting abused literally by Turbine.

I won't say abused...

However, when it takes three phone calls to get the 1000 TP from the current deal for being VIP and you tell customer service that you'd like to express your opinion of the VIP service, you are told to either post on the forums or click on the "in-game FEEDBACK button next to REPORT A BUG". There is no FEEDBACK button. And when you post in the forums, there's usually snarky comments by premiums and never a reply from anyone from Trubine. So I don't think Turbine abuses VIP...they just don't care.

Well considering that Deadly weapons is bugged and won't make it into Update 11, I consider us new toy loving alta-holics VIPS victims in this! But hey it should be mostly debugged when you can favor unlock it, wootz! (Besides grinding fav is for Froobs! )

Also, I wish I could go to a good gaming con. I'd totally wear a sweet costume too, that included some kind of respirator/gas mask

Should be total favor based as anything else not a single house... Complete racket and flawed design to start with.

Its Totally taking your fan / financial loyalty base and abusing them by expecting them to dish out the bucks or wait until it is unockable.

All DDO addicts will probably buy it once the Bandwagon goes "Artificer this... oohhh Artificer that in guild chat!!""" And not wait until U12 to unlock it.

U11 first we get the nerf bat on FVS for the wings due to Lamma Land 1% Uberness raid destruction.... we get the usual Eladrin response that it warps game mechanics blah blah blah....

Then we get the shaft for the highly anticipated New Class but wont get to see it unless we buy it or wait until favor is release in 3-6 months.

U11 The nerf bat fell on us once again and Turbine dropped it on its big toe in the process.... :-P

I will not make menaces of cancelling my subscription as i love this game. But SERIOUSLY does turbine even care about us the paying loyal customers????

EPIC FAIL.

I am all set to lay down the TP for the extra backpack slot (yes they have a 6th you can buy on Lamannia) but I am not sure I am willing to run to the local gamestop to buy a card so I can get a class that should be free to VIPs. The heck with the unlock by favor, make the F2P and Premiums pay for the class, but why screw over the VIPs?

Any possibility a store bundle will be available? eg

- U11 Adventure Pack
- Pre Order U12 Adventure Pack
- Artificer Class

Really strange decision, IMO.

Unless they are doing it this way because they don't expect much of the player base to be able to beat the two raids on Elite, and the favor is tight enough that you need one or both of them done.

Then they'd get to sell the two packs to people wanting to unlock Artificer, and then once they concede defeat on C favor, they get to sell the class as well.


I still think they should - even from their own business perspective - make Artificer free to VIPs. Mainly because if someone's playing a WF artificer on their VIP account, they are less likely to drop to Premium as they'd need to buy a class, a race, and whatever adventure packs they consider important.

Thats not the only pack you would need to buy...

It depends on if they have purchased all the "pay for content" yet or not. Some of us VIP have done this by letting the account go premimum for a month to buy the stuff we can't as VIP's.
