Default Question about next Hardcore season

    Hi everyone,

I still love DDO but I only play during the Hardcore seasons now. I'd love to have some idea of when the next season is coming out. I still have a VIP account and I'm pretty much paying full price for this one feature (hardcore league) and it seems to be very poorly covered from a release and support standpoint.

It's not something that is on a yearly schedule. It comes out when it comes out, they seem to kinda play it by ear.

The last I heard was mid December but I personally am hoping for sooner.

No date that is set in stone at this time.

Given the current state of the game, don't hold your breath.

A large portion of classes is broken due to the update that they are just going to barely get started fixing next week.

You have the holidays, so staff will not be wanting to hang around any longer than needed.

Lag is at an all time high.

---------------- and SSG is not obligated to start HCL, they can do it when they feel like it.

HCL is my favorite thing, but in my opinion, if they
launch it now with the current disaster called U51 it will just
compound all those problems and also make HCL unenjoyable.

Yeah doubt it HCL will be pumped out just like this unready update was

I honestly think HCL was a big factor in these changes where before you got to 20 and had no ED power now in HCL that will be different

They might, it would be very stupid for them to do that ... but at times
SSG has proven their ability and willingness to screw up hard.
    Not always, but disappointingly often.

If they do, I might just cruise through on normal, get the cloak and call it a day.

Watch and see there has been zero indication that HCL will not happen

infact I believe that the changes was in part because of HCL where getting to 20 left no ED unlock

If you are only going to 20 you aren't even getting into the next territory Elite is easy enough in heroics there really is no need to go to 20 in normal

The next Hardcore season is currently set for early December and will be a bit different than a Season 5. It'll be a shorter encore of the first season, with the first season's rewards.

Am I reading this correctly that there will not be an unique cloak for Season 5? That's a pretty big bummer.
Per Cocomajobo - Ranged has easy access to AOE - apparently 3 feats, BAB 11 and Dex 19 is considered easy access these days. post here

My understanding is that the next season will have its own cloak (and not be VIP gated, which the original Season 1 was). We'll have more info soon!

While I am very excited to get a chance to earn footprints, I do think they should at least change the colors of the rewards. Let those who pulled it off in season 1 have their unique reward for pioneering Hard Core. Don't get me wrong, I am going to take a shot at getting all the season 1 rewards this time around, but I feel it cheapens the accomplishment of those who got them already.

I am very happy it is not another mount, though!

    "Muddy Footprints" would work.

Please make the HC5 footprints different to HC1, even just a colour change

I second the guys above - please make some distinction, at least change the footprint color. It's much easier to achieve 5k goal now with so much more content (Feywild, Saltmarsh, Borderlands, Gatekeepers, Planar Eyes, Promise of Fire - that's A LOT of extra favor compared to season 1). From what I remember the hardest part to get 5k favor was the upper heroic levels - when you are cannot lvl up to 20 and still need to run heroic quests. Running most quests at qlvl+4 was not that hard, though it required some skill, party balance, luck etc.
I think that giving the same reward for an accomplishment that varies from original (is easier) is unfair.
Khyber: Nimrud (main), Tadko (tank), Yayamee (monk), Healingonly (melee FvS), Almeya (trapper), Groggor (barb), Feneya (archer), Zornix (archer) and some others
Hardcore season 1: AveDarkLord (favor leaderboards)
Hardcore season 5: Dont Wanna Die (favor leaderboards)

What do you lose from people gaining the chance to get those rewards?

    They lose the bragging rights.
It's human nature to want to be first- the footprints were an award earned to be among those who achieved something before any others did (In other hardcore seasons).
I believe it was implied that there would be no more bloody footprints after.Add to that, the fact for a long time those same footprints did not work for the accounts that earned them.

And, like anything else, it loses value when increased in number.

I didn't get the footprints. I would rather respect the achievement of others who did what was required to earn them and not have a chance to get the same award myself; for one I know HC better now than I did the first season so more likely to get a set- it cheapens the value. And it would be a lie.

"Those footprints? Yep, earned them in the *cough* first *cough* hardcore event."
Another color is fine- a chance for the flash without the falseness.
