Should niche builds never get items? Builds change all the time. This months niche may be next months meta.
To the bracers:
The cloak is magic based.
The set bonus is magic based.
The bracers are defense/magic based.
What part of the bracers screams melee defense? It is only PRR and petrification immunity. Never of those have anything to do with melee or ranged specifically.
I like the anthem thing. Does the spell lore stack? It's not 100% clear to me.
i'm also in the camp that thinks Staff of Shadow should have an expanded crit threat as well as multiplier.
Just sad that there's no Reflection of Sunsword.

If I recall, one of the differentiators of modern day raid loot from high level raid loot is the extra augment slot.
When are you going to update augments and provide better options?
Why not add augments as raid loot?
If there were augments with 80% of the power of minimum level 29 (say a +18 Str Augment), people would run this raid until the kobalds came home.
The Nak Abides - Argo - Ascent
Ganak Goblinjuicer ~ Xanak the Irregular
It would be more balanced with 18-20x3 instead. Precedence in the game shows it's a norm to give staffs expanded range as well. the x3 alone doesn't offset. Yes, it's nice its indestructible and that is useful but it hardly offsets all the abilities the other weapons get considering staffs aren't very strong as far as natural crit range and base damage go. It's a strange weapon to mimic the sword of shadow on, but if you must, you should at least give it the classic +2 to range that it so desperately needs.
However, having said that, its still an underpowered weapon when compared to the fact all the other weapons will out preform it in high end content. With the attack speed a staff gets it only makes sense to put the procs and damage on hit abilities on it and the crit increases on something a little slower.
Adding something similar to the slay living or ice procs. or the +5 wounding would make a large difference.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the base damage is 65.63 which when you are relying on base damage and crits that is trash as well. Its 5[d6+6] weapon die. I could easily be twice that and hardly keep up.

The staff of shadows needs to be relooked
Many said it as well but 18-20/x3 base profile would be alot better. The OG sword of shadows also had a bigger base damage dice (5d6 back then I think) but that got changed sometime since
Thanks
I have to look at these items through the lens of my two characters I play (years ago played ten concurrently and now focus on just two due to Past Lives/Reaper Points).
Xanak - Elf 20 Ranger Tempest/DWS - Scimitars and total melee; won't pick up a bow:
Two scimitars, woot!
Nightshard Scimitar
Damage Dice: 5[1d6+3]
Identity Crisis (Salt proc on-hit)
Keen V
Utter Disintegration
Material: Byeshk
Red Augment Slot
Orange Augment Slot
So does Byeshk count as one of the four effects? What is the rational?
Keen V - Does it add +2[W] damage on top of the +5[W] damage for a total of +7[W] damage for the Nightshard Scimitar?
The Reflection of the Frostblade Scimitar
Damage Dice: 5[1d6+3]
Legendary Freezing Ice proc (DC 100)
9d6 Frost Damage on-hit
9d10 Evil Outsider Bane
Material: Silver
Red Augment Slot
Orange Augment Slot
No complaints other than Silver taking up an effect slot.
For other items based on my play style...meh. Perhaps the Gauntlets of the Stormreaver.
Ganak - Dwarf 20 Fighter Kensai/Vanguard - DWA and Tower Shield.
Please add a Dwarven Axe. Pretty please?
Nullcloth Armor Heavy Armor
Nullmagic Guard (on being struck, has a chance to silence your foe)
PRR +52
Fortification 208%
Will Saves +16
Magical Null (15% penalty to spell failure)
Green Augment Slot
Yellow Augment Slot
Nullmagic Guard is a curiosity, but wonder if it would be of regular usefulness. Does being struck by a spell count as being struck?
Magical Null (15% penalty to spell failure) - Remind me, does this impact Cocoon?
Overall, I'd pass on this armor and stick with the Legendary Platemail of the Barovian Lord.![]()
Gauntlets of the Stormreaver looks appealing, but might still consider Molten Silver Gauntlets best in class for melee for gloves.
So really very minimal interest in this raid loot for my dorf S&B.
So the last DDO raid where I was like I must run this raid until it gives me this item I can't live without was maybe Legendary Shroud (to get enough ingredients) almost six years ago, and definitely Defiler of the Just. We ran that raid silly and it was so fun. Maybe just me?
The Nak Abides - Argo - Ascent
Ganak Goblinjuicer ~ Xanak the Irregular
The Reflection of Wave Quarterstaff
Damage Dice: 5[1d6+6]
The Crash of the Waves: On Harmful Spellcast, you have a small chance of locking an enemy in a frozen block of ice. DC 100.
Frozen Storm Lore: Ice/Electric/Sonic Spell Lore +30%
Frozen Storm Power: Ice/Electric/Sonic Spell Power 208
Swirling Ice Shield: 3 Charges/3 per day
Greater Water Elemental Form: While in Water Elemental Form (Druid and Sorcerer both count for this), you benefit from 50 Exceptional Cold Spell Power, 20% Exceptional Cold Spell Lore, and you have 5 additional maximum/current Cold Spell caster levels
Water Breathing
Red Augment Slot
Orange Augment Slot
hey i like this item a lot and a druid build i have in mind will find it awesome but i have a small problem with it
and that is why water breathing on it, dont druids and sorc's while in form already have the ability to breath under
water. it just seems a waste if this was designed for druids and sorc's.
your friend sil![]()
I understand the rational behind the 4 effect limit on weapons and items, but why are you counting material type as one of the effects? It just seems like a complete waste of an effect slot. The die size, material type, threat range, multiplier are all basically innate parts of the weapon. Increased threat ranges and multipliers are more useful then material type and they don't count as one of the four effects. With the exception of perhaps metalline, I really think you guys should drop the material type as using one of the four effect slots. Weapons that waste a slot on one of the four tend to be weaker than the other items in the same update that have 4 real magical effects.
Anyway...
Hellstroke Heavy Mace - This doesn't seem to be a raid worthy item. It has all the effects of the old Hellstroke Greataxe, so I guess you can't really add anything else to it if you want to keep it similar to the original. Maybe if the doublestrike 23 was insightful doublestrike 11? There are fewer places to get insightful doublestrike at the moment.
Staff of Irian - Fire/Light Spell Power 208 - What kind of spell power is this? Enhancement like the Ravenloft belts and Legendary Greensteel or normal equipment bonus?

There should be a Dwarven Axe as one was not provided in the Strahd and Baba loot tables. Maybe something based of off welhm. Several bastard swords and khopeshes have been provided.
I was really hoping for a Bastard Sword version of BlackRazor.... but only a long sword and greatsword version is there.
The new versions of blackrazor look really nice but I neither use greatswords nor longswords, however I really like the stealer of souls effect so I will test that out anyways.
I made a cosmetic of the longsword version....... but it looks so puny that it disappoints so frankly with that being the case I'd rather have the appearance of the New bastard sword in which is the same as wave of despair........
I wish at the very least I could use the cosmetic of the greatsword with a bastard sword
The effects on the new blackrazors are like a wet dream, then I see that the weapon types do not include bastard swords and it becomes quite the bummer..... sad even.
Let me explain the whole Bastard Sword VS Greatsword matter........
Number of named greatswords in the game: 48
Number of named Bastard Swords in the game: 45
Number of sentient compatible greatswords in the game: Somewhere around 18
Number of sentient compatible Bastard swords in the game: Somewhere around 21
Number of level 29 named bastard swords in the game: Currently only 3 if counting the the Ravenloft ones
Number of level 29 named greatswords in the game: Currently 4 if counting the Ravenloft ones
In other words the following can be justified....
1-Pushing for a Bastard sword version of Blackrazor (Level 29)
2-Pushing for a few more heroic named Bastard Swords
3-Pushing for more named sentient compatible greatswords below level 29
If my belief is that Bastard Swords and greatswords be tied in numbers at least to the vague parameters listed above, it really isn't far off from being the case already as it is, however I'd argue that a crucial first step would be in making a Bastard Sword version of the new Blackrazor swords.
Totally AGREED. You are offering us an end-game raid item. It simply doesn't do or have enough for a raid item, let alone an end-game raid item. It does not compare favorably enough with its name sake item either. On the one hand we're told items can only have 4 effects then we see this lvl 29 raid item without ANY. Great is has an extra multiplier. But without added crit threat range on an inherently poor crit threat weapon that just doesn't matter as much.
Blood Scented Axe Body Spray (Thelanis)Aelonwy - Wydavir - Metaluscious - Aertimys - Phantastique - Kaelaria - Lunaura - Aelurawynn - Saurscha - Crystalorn - Aurvaeyn - Vaelyns - Wyllowynd
Kargon came here to say this.
Well maybe not the third augment slot part, but this are good comparison why need more crit range.
Fortunatamally many other people seem to agree.
While talking about new loot... when Kargon get a club that look like tasty ham? already have broccoli club...
