Default Elemental damage on repeaters borked?

I recently bought a heavy repeating crossbow that is supposed to do 2d6 cold damage per shot. I have never seen it do more than 6 points save on foes weak to cold. Today I bought a repeater that has 2d6 chaotic damage listed, but I have yet to see more than 6 points of alignment damage. Level 2d6 effects seem to be working just fine on my melee weapons. Is this a restriction placed on repeaters to keep them from doing absurd elemental damage, or is elemental damage on repeaters bugged?

Apologies if this has come up before, google showed me no love on this issue.

Elemental damage is borked on all ranged and thrown weapons.

This is an issue that we are aware of. It's not just limited to repeaters but is actually true of scaling damage effects on all ranged weapons which use ammo currently. Off the top of my head, while at home, I don't recall whether it affects thrown weapons but I do not believe it does. Regardless, I'll update you when progress is made in resolving it.

Don't forget all random gen handwraps. They all have the same bug as well.

Yeah I know, the handwraps rework is supposed to be somewhere down the pipe. Random gen wraps have been useless for almost a year now, so what's 1-2 more of it not working right?

Wow really? Is this - and for that matter DR breaking, and handwrap effects - not seen as a priority issue? Come on Turbine, the new loot system has been in for months now.

Well, it has yet to even be acknowledged by a dev, so I would assume priority is somewhere between low and "La-La-La-La-If-I-Can't-Hear-You-It-Doesn't-Exist".

I have been away from the game a while, I have a level 22 rogue mech and so I have been probably been using a few ineffectual weapons?

So are the weapons only doing 1d6 damage per element?

Think I have some named crossbows, are they working as they should?

Could someone post here what I should be looking for then to improve my DPS please. Maybe this was why crossbows were going cheap on the AH a while back?

Since this is described as a problem with "scaling" damage, does that mean that this is not an issue with Old Lootgen / Named weapons? Not sure if new Named items use the U29 loot scaling. If not then new Named weapons may also be exempt from this issue?

Note - Poison does currently work on repeaters that have it.

I believe it is only the new lootgen weapons that are affected. I personally stick to named weapons, and the lootgen weapons are all either deconned (for CC essences) or vendored.

If you want to get some really, really nice Xbows (or any other weapon), go do the Eveningstar challenges & trade in for the weapon type you're looking for. They're offered at levels 16, 20 & 24, are considered named weapons, and are BtC on acquire. You may want to get enough mats to trade for 6-10 weapons, as you cannot choose the effects you want, so it may take multiple tries to get exactly what you want.

The last time I did that it took me 3 tries to get what I was specifically looking for, the time before that 6 tries (on two different toons). But I've kept all the Xbows, as they all are very nice & I switch them around depending what mobs we're fighting. You'll also want to do it with a group, as some are hard to solo, and your mat rewards will usually be much higher with a group.

Is that only with lootgen weapons or does that also affect named weapons? Eg: Doublecross Bow.

This ranged scaling issue becomes most prevalent for the Great Crossbow wielders, because - there are so few Named Great Crossbows in the game, that most players simply use Random Loots.

I consider this a serious Quality Control issue that needs fixed ASAP, and yet the new Random Loot has been out for quite a long time.

OK thanks, that helps. I rarely ever do the challenges but it would be a great project. Finding groups can be an issue as I am EU based but I will check with the guild when I start playing again and see if I can get some people to help me out.

I think I have a couple of named crossbows around this range but I will be interested to see what happens about this issue. Seems funny I never heard about it and I see someone else seems to have started a thread about it at about the same time.
