    1) you make unwarranted assumptions about their character on very little information,
    2) you want them in your group based solely on those (often inaccurate) assumptions, and
    3) meanwhile you must also think they're too stupid to be able to hit your LFM if they had been the least bit interested in joining your group for whatever raid/quest you're running.

Right, got it, the "good" old days. Good riddance.

Meeting someone with a paralyzer weapon and going wow... then meeting someone with two paralyzers who went through a dungeon paralyzing everything leaving it for the rest of the party to kill

When Banishers and Smiters worked on a Critical and not just a natural 20.

Well I've only played since Aug of 2013, so this game was only hard for me for few days... ending the day before yesterday.
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

    hahaha the good old days.
where you made a class and it had a job to do.
where a cleric hit the LFM and you asked are you a battle cleric? yes I am, denied.
when a rogue needed xxx amount of hit points or they wouldnt get into the shroud. I remember buffing, switching gear and GHing all over the place to build my hp up so i could get into the shroud on my rogue.
then once it was started I would switch to my normal gear. i got questioned a few times, but didnt die... well maybe sometimes.
i made my first cleric out of spite cos i was getting frustrated that there were never any clerics online. then I played one back in the day. now I know why people didnt make them.
find a safe spot and watch blue bars....
    lol

I know it still happens today, but I still think the hardest "nostalgic" moment for me is how the first time I did shroud. I got up on that altar and I swear I clicked that portal RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE arghhh...

Back in the day we used to go to the forums and made threads about how the game was hard back in the day.
Thelanis - Ethforged - Etherar - Fjirty --- Mitis Mors
    Ghallanda - Ethrayne - Ethryne --- Omnipresence

    * Casters only LFMs.
    * BYOH, some weirdos still post this.
    * Link your gear before joining.
    * If your myDDO gear wasnt updated and had empty slots or bad gear setup you got kicked from party. My badie list is 95% these people and i still have a bad taste for guilds dominating this era. Tho they are mostly the fail elite wannabes so no issues here.

I liked discussing stategy for 4-5minutes before a hard fight, and wiping regardless :d. This was always fun, that CC did not go off, or the healer got 1 shotted etcetc..

    Have fun
    Work as a team
Have a hard fight and just barely make it out alive.
Have an "Oh sh!t" moment and know it was not going to get nerf'd.
Have a full party of mixed classes because each one was needed.

    ^^yes^^

I miss a lot about the good 'ole days. A whole lot.

But in this era of "take anyone because we'll just roflstomp the quest anyway" what I don't miss is:

    - Party Leaders who kicked someone with out saying anything to the person.
    - Declining without explanation.
    - "Big-Time" guilds that used the fact that only they (in their minds) could get an E Raid going meant they could be jerky and laugh at people while booting.
    - "Big Time" guilds that joined your run and started doling out jobs and disciplines and such.
    - "Big Time" guilds who would threaten to "blacklist" someone.
    - "Big Time" guilds having a blacklist that actually meant something in the first place.
    - Players whose whole personality and attitude shifted (for the worse) the very day they joined the "Big Time" guild.

This age of "everyone can be super-powered" has lessened the influence of "Power Guilds".

So at least there is that.

    Also, Remember LFM wars?

For new people in this thread - You see, there used to be multiple LFMs up for the same content up at the same time.
Three Tempest Spines, two ToDs, four Shrouds.
(amazing concept and hard to believe but it's true)

I used to love the "GUILD X WEEKLY RAIDS" coupled with "NO ONE FROM GUILD X" lfm's
or the "SHROUD FOR NON-ELITEST" coupled with "SHROUD FOR NON-IDIOTS"

    such fun.

I know? Where did that come from?
You know how idiots think that when people die, sometimes their "energy" or something "echos" or whatever and we sometimes perceive it as ghosts (or something)?
Maybe it was one of those? 0.o

Yep. And reading the forums back then... the complaint and doom was much higher than now.

For half-glass-empty people the grass is always greener on the other side.

At some point we did get XP for free.

Remember XP Debt? Casual/Solo playstyle didn't like XP debt so to suit them, they added XP regen while offline. Yes, you could gain XP when you didn't even play!

Rallied against Xp while not even playing and in the end XP debt was removed too.

    Made things to hard.

    Epic Partycrashers

    So many good memories
    Epic Partycrashers

    - Kill scorpion from safe spot
    - Kill giant from safe spot
    - Kill 2 tiefling bosses
    - Kill 1 tiefling boss from safe spot

    Auto Win

    Epic Big Top

    - Bring jump and invis (and get blacklisted if you don't)
    - Jump/Run to end fight
    - Beat up some cc'd mobs
    - Stand in the corner by a curtain and beat down boss

    Auto Win

With hundreds of Big Top runs I never saw a group run the quest legitimately or even suggest it. If I recall the bug was fixed shortly before U14. People complain about challenge but yet the same people will choose the path of least resistance every time.

    Epic Devil Assault

    - Get someone with good cc
    - Get a healer
    - Get a tank

    Auto Win

There were way more safe spots then vs. now. The powergamers of that era were all about exploiting safe spots and UI bugs.

Swap to my bow to get the point blank bonus against the earth elementals in the depths chain with my finesse dex ranger. Because my rapiers were scoring flat 0's.

    Default Or

    Not build fotm builds

Build specialty builds without maximizing for survival
Grouping with like minded individuals so that the party needs the whole to complete rather than each person a soloist capable toon.

Have alts that do not have all the best loot

To stay in one to three destiny's per toon so less twists available

Not to TR aaand stay a one or two life toon.

Run with no guild buffs and rely on your group for buffs

Yes the game has changed, but its what you make of it.

Or maybe everyone has played the same quests too many times to make it feasible to recreate the challenge of yore.

As for decked out toons - the devs are doing their best to ensure that level 30 endgame will be everything you want it to be - challange

I thought the old epics were a lot of fun though. The new stuff is good, but there was something about needing a group to get an epic in. History has probably forgotten the bad parts but I remember great times and really bad jokes on Comm's.
