So PlayClaw recently updated the sound encoding method, and now WLMM wont accept the audio format... While I still love PlayClaw for recording, I'm not happy with this change they made.

Is anyone else having any difficulties with getting video recording software to work with DDA?
In the past I made a video using MSI afterburner, but now I cant get either that or fraps to work while DDO is running.
I will try with Xfire.
xfire is working normally for me.

Xfire only likes DDO in DX9 mode, so if you're in DX10/11, you'll need to go to your Options panel, and set the renderer down to DX9, and restart. At that point, Xfire should be able to detect and record. If you're still having issues with DDO in dx9 mode, PM me your details and I'll have a more in-depth look.

Sounds to me like a codec issue. Without knowing more about your setup, I'd say go and install the codec packs listed in the OP. And then go with XFire or Fraps while you're at it![]()

Possibly the same issues as the previous guy: Most recording software does not support DX10/11.. Pretty sure bandicam is the same.
Switch down to DX9 mode.. DDO runs much smoother in it anyways and looks no different imo.
i just downloaded fraps off TPB and it works now thanks for all the help everyone![]()

Ref. the people only getting a black screen during recording- I got the same thing trying to record World of Tanks using Expressions 4 (some free MS thing). If you really must record in DX10/11 try running in windowed mode. I use fraps and record in this mode for frame rate reasons and can testify it wont include the boundry or background desktop.
I have not used Xfire in some time until today. It seems that a recent DDO update has broken compatibility with Xfire. DDO used to launch with "dndlauncher.exe" which no longer exists. Xfire rigidly demands that this file be the one to launch DDO, therefore it no longer is able detect DDO either automatically or manually. I have sent a support ticket to Xfire detailing the problem. No eta on any fix or workaround yet. I will update this thread with new information as received.

The harder part is editing. After watching Windows Movie Mangler's results, I've chosen to avoid editing but still want to caption the videos. For that, online, no-cost tools such as CaptionTube and Amara do the job.

Xfire has responded to my ticket and we are now in dialogue.
**xfire is still by far the best recorder I've used. hoping they resolve this quickly**

I will continue to update y'all here as things progress.

Can I copy/paste your fix to our DDO forums?
Again, thanks for your help and have a great day.
and:You can if you would like, although I will likely need to tweak the flags a bit when I can actually get into the game. If you do post it, be sure to mention that XIG has not been fully tested & the definition may change.
So here is the fix. I've tested it and it does seem to be working perfectly. If anyone has a not-perfect result, best advice I'd give is to wait for Xfire's next official update. This will be pushed officially in the next game update anyways, so the only purpose in posting it would be so people could make early use of it while waiting for the update.
I am going to provide you with a definition update & would like you to get back to me to let me know if it works. Once I have gotten a confirmation that it works, I will get it into an official update ASAP. To manually apply the updated definitions:1. Open xfire_games.ini (located in C:\ProgramData\Xfire) in Notepad.
2. Search (Ctrl+F) for "[4770" (without quotes).
3. Replace all definitions for this game with what I have below:
4. Save the file.
5. Run a game scan from the Game Library tab of your Xfire Options.
6. Close the window when the scan completes.
7. Restart Xfire.

As clear and crisp and lag-free as ever, no annoying watermarks, fantastic text clarity, zero artifacting. I may do a couple of new vids this weekend and post to youTube. I'll link here when/if. Another home-run for Xfire.
BTW: I noticed in one of your posts on those forums that you stated that XIG only works in DX9. This is actually incorrect. We support multiple renderers, but in many games this has to be manually set. If you pull up the game in your Game Library you will see a field that states what the InGameRenderer is, you can change what renderer XIG is hooking into here. Remember to restart Xfire after changing the renderer. ![]()
