Okay.. running into a new issue. When attempting to save the file, I go File -> ... Save as AVI, Save as old format AVI, Save as Segmented AVI ... even after having set the compression to .mkv and having given it an output file name, I can see no way from the "File" context menu to do anything other than AVI. Thoughts?

Edit: Tried saving it anyway to see what would happen. Made one .avi file and one .mkv file. .avi file was appropriate length, but a blank black screen, .mkv file would not play. I'm going to make sure my Matroska is updated, and hopefully that's it.

Edit 2: Bah, I give up for now. I got it to somehow save a workable .avi version, I'll add it to the thread. Somewhere in the midst of editing this, I decided to begin uploading the original 3gb file, and its about 10 minutes from completion now. So, hopefully both will be up soon.
Sounds like your using regular virtudaldub.. Yea it can only do AVI.
You need virtualdubmod if you want a .mkv. And I couldn't get that o work with win 7 x64, so yea I use regular vdub64 now.. thus the seperate guides.
But .avi works fine, it can accept a x264 stream.
Youtube will convert to a mp4 anyways.
