    Default Etiquette Rant

I try to be a nice guy, I really do. But when you hit a LFM, be ready to quest. If you need a ride out to Meridia, don't wait until the entire party steps in to let us know. If you want to level before a quest, go do that THEN hit the LFM. Go buy your pots/scrolls/etc in the downtime between quests. If it's mission essential, like say curse pots, let someone know as soon as you join what you plan on doing. Someone may have a stack, if you are #12 the divine might tell you not to worry about it, he'll take care of you. We all faceplant from time to time on resources, it happens. Just don't punish a party because you forgot.

The point is, when people put up a LFM it means, "Join if you want to run this quest", not "Join then go do character maintenance." People don't have to be ***** if you don't give them a reason.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

+1 - another annoying thing is running for ship buffs for easy quests while everyone is waiting for you.

Some people (thankfully its a small %) won't ever get this. There is a % of the population (not just this game--but real life or any other venture) that do not think about and/or care about others' inconveniences. They do whatever it is that they want. If you challenge them on it--they tend to maintain the self-centered approach and get mad that you are bothered by them.

Other than blacklisting them or putting up with it, I don't think there is a cure. From what I've seen, the blacklisting does not lead to education or behavior change--they block out the correlation and assume the blacklist was because of an issue the blocker has and not a problem caused by their own actions/behaviors.

That is why I get shipbuffs before logging off. You are buffed, you join lfm, you do the quest and are happy because you won the roll for SoS.

Logg out on your ship fully buffed!

On the other hand, LFMs have no *I wanna run it right now*, you are searching for more members for a specific quest, that's it. If you are in a hurry, then just add it to the LFM. Etiquette works on 2 sides.

Ship buffs for easy quests, like say a group of 20's running a Reaver, is pretty ridiculous. The worst was a guy 3 days ago. He hit the LFM, went and took a level, then went to House J for spell components, for a 16-20 reaver on a cleric.

This one irks me to no end, guildie or no.

heck, the only time I ever try to remember ship buffs is when I go out to sell stuff in mass.

All my toons are fairly self-sufficient, so this is more an annoyance than a problem, but the amount of times I've heard "And if you need a fire resist, find a better guild" or something similar is like 1 outta 4 groups.

I'll wand myself or swap a piece of gear, but with dorks like that out there, it's hard to blame the average pugger out there for getting in the habit of ship buffing before every **** quest.

You did not mention easy. That was a post below your OP.

He hit the LFM, went and took a level, then went to House J for spell components, for a 16-20 reaver on a cleric.
Step in, start quest, let him die on eles.

    off topic:
my bardsongs are not shown, and it's stupid to ask other people if they see songs running off so they should tell me. I wanna do my job in my partyrole, other people have to pay attention to their role. Buffbar messes up heavily.

Shipbuffs I want to be removed:
    all.

    Exceptions:
exp. shrines, auction house, banker, mail, resistances.

being in a guild has become more of a parasitism on goodies than anything else.

Thing is. Not everyone is a vet.
Sometimes, newbs like to try for raids as well. And they would much rather be fully buffed and have all their components before going into one. After all, they'll probably get yelled at if they mess up in any way, and they don't really know if the raid will be 'easy'.

And what's easy for you may well be difficult for them.

Really... Thankfully in the pugs I've been in, I've yet to hear that. But man... if I did, I think I found a guild to make my "do not play with" list.

A person asking for a resist or two, fine. It is part of playing a healer to reduce your own load. But if the player asks for everything under the sun and the sun itself... yeah. That is a bit much.

Impatience is a virtue and the #1 reason why I left that god awful server. Thanks for making my decision to move to another world a good one. Happy Hunting and try to be a bit more patient. Not everyone is up to running quests with you and your uber pals. Peace.

That's true, I completely apologize to you and everyone else who joins a LFM and takes over 15 minutes to get to the quest. I now see the error in my ways. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for pointing out my unique character flaws. If you ever come back to the server let me know and I will give you everything I have.

Edit: and you don't have to be uber to be courteous.

    This.
Out of all the reasons why a person delays in getting to the quest, this is what annoys me the most. I mean I can understand if the person is new to the quest and doesn't know what to expect, but when those who have run it 100 times insist on ship buffs....

Even worse is when everyone else is inside already and the last person refuses to enter unless someone invites them to their ship for buffs.
I've had that happen on a shroud run before.

How did people survive before the guild ships existed?!

It would be nice if we could convince all the slow pokes of Thelanis to move to another server. I'll threaten genocide!

I'm glad you are having fun, honestly. Please stay over there and delay everyone there with your constant tardiness.

It is not called "fashionably late", it is called being inconsiderate and rude.

If you have real life intrude aka children, cats, dogs, fire, cops, etc. Sure, you have to deal with that first. No problems.

But if you have to, oh.. go re stock, check the stock market, play with your toes, complain about the weather, window shop in the DDO store, sell off items at each of the vendor to make the most plat you can, and then as an after thought show up at the quest (which is the point of the OP)... Thank you for already shoving yourself off the server.
