    No, there's plenty of wf liches out there necrotizing their foes, in fact it's good for the DC alone.

    Taking palemaster gives you a full negative energy line for what you pay, while on archmage you need to take the force line separately which is costly.
    But then again, no wizard need to rely on negative energy spells or necrotic abilities, they are just nice to play with.

    Now if someone could tell me what robe the OP is wearing in those pics, it looks amazing! For a sec I thought it might be the Abbot's shroud, but It looks way different on the wiki. Anyone know? Is it even a unique?

    I agree. We need new visual for aura, new sound effects for it and perhaps even different hp bar color for party list to make healers life a bit easier.

    I googled a bit for auras, this picture from dota seems subtle enough:

    It could be pulsating to replace that sound effect. Visual instead of sound kind of.

    For those who haven't tried this -- if you disable your video post-processing effects it makes the green orb of headaches not nearly as painful (it removes the bright shifting patterns from it and gives it a more muted green).

    Wow, you guys have quite the petition going here. I didn't realize there was that much of a universal issue with Death Aura's effects. Well, now that I've read all this, you can count this as "acknowledged by a dev."

    Yes, this was indeed the idea behind it, but the thing perhaps not considered was that, while it is tolerable and even rather cool on enemies (well, I continue to think so, anyway ), it's a strain when it's kept going all the time by a party member. Honestly, I'd still like it to match the one the skeletons get (which would probably mean redoing the skeletons' effects as well), although...

    Do people agree this would be a good solution, at least for now? It'd be an easy way to do it and it actually kind of makes sense that you, as the player and a particularly powerful undead character by level 12, should have a more impressive aura than your run-of-the-mill Arcane Skellies. There is also the option to make it like the Positive Energy Aura except recolored, but I'd rather it be distinct. Either way, I think it'd be possible to do a simple change to it in the near future.

    Sound: It would be ok to keep effects for when the Death Aura is created, but the ongoing sound effects should diminish for the players. Perhaps a volumn drop of 10% every second until it is "silent". Reflects the introduction of that aura into the world until it adapts locally.

    Visual: Again the initial aura is cool, but it presents some serious gameplay issues fairly soon thereafter. It almost can feel like running with a moving solid fog/stinking cloud/cloudkill effect going. Especially in some quests. The Radiant Servant aura scheme is much less intrusive visually. So again perhaps a morphing from initial cast location (current graphic package) to something that lingers once you have moved from that spot. The lingering aura matches one of the suggestions above.

    Can someone post an image of Valak's aura? I don't remember what it looks like and I can't get in game to check it out. I'd like to see it before I endorse it.

    I'd take the Valak Aura over the Positive Aura because it would be UNIQUE. Although a negative version of the Radiant Servant aura would make more sense as far as padronization is concerned.

    I think they should do a quick fix and just do a circle around their feet, and get better graphics when they're ready, all I want is to be able to solo coal on my wiz without falling down cause I cant see anything! D:

    Sound AND Aura spam are just aweful. Bow of them.

    It's kept me away from playing my otherwise very enjoyable pale master.

    while i agree with the OP about the aura graphic needing changed, i don't agree on using Valak's aura since it'll end up being about the same
    can we get something like the healing aura but with souls radiating out or circling the caster instead of sparkles?
    PS: Greensteel RUINED the game! and you all know it!

    I suspect that too would be too visually intrusive during a sustained gaming session. A recoloured radiant aura or simply something around the feet like the inflict spell generates for now would be preferable until a new effect could be designed.

    Initially, as a place holder, Valak's aura would be 10 times better than the undead melon. In the long term, maybe on cast it would be JUST like Valak's, but after 2-5 seconds it would just be the purple glowie aura? I'll leave it to the artistically inclined, but if I could press for something that's fairly muted after initial cast, that would be spectacular.
