It's Hard Out There for a Battlecleric

Dear Squishy Rogues, Bards and Wizards:

It's really hard for me to heal you in the middle of a fight when I'm also expected to do the majority of the DPS.

Also, Mr. Wizard, if you're the first one through a door, the baddies on the other side will kill you pretty much immediately, and there's nothing i can do to help.

my favorite is running rainbow and the caster assume's my wf fvs is on light duty, then i link my weaps and bet that ill top the kill count....last run was about 105 lol...

It was a lo-level quest (one of the "Depths"), and I'll give him credit for handing out blurs. But the Earth Ellies on the other side of the door didn't care. They smushed him instantaneously!

What is better is being the rogue and holding the light all the time and leading the kill count :P

That's okay. I can heal myself. If the clerics stops over healing me I bet we're both happier.

Nah the worst people i've found to team with as a battle cleric, is a barbarian. They really are mana leeches, even those played compotently. I've literally not meet a barbarian i didn't spend the entire dungeon chasing from fight to fight healing. Its almost like they are all wearing armour made out of soggy cardboard and macaroni.

If Mr. Wizard heads through the door, and takes out all the bad guys before I can even get a quickened Cometfall in, he's welcome in my party and will even get a Harm tossed his way when he has his death aura up and starts to get a little low

If, on the other hand, he just angers them and runs past me screaming "ineedhjealzplz!!" with 3 of them in tow... well... he can enjoy the comforts of my cozy backpack after I take care of them

Nope, probably not. But that says more about the type of people that are attracted to the barbarian class, then anything else.

Its actually possible to build a fighter that does about as much damage as a well stated, buffed battle cleric & still not have the fighter be considered gimped. I've seen one build in practice that worked on the idea of the battle turtle, with some crowd control thrown in. A fighter who had maxed out his AC, had pots for stone skin style spells & who had an armoury of one handed weapon that had secondary effects like strength drain on them. He would win every fight by not being able to be hit, & being the only one targetted thanks to intimidate.

I appreciate the fact that you are trying to kill a monster along with me(a barb), but I think it will be better for us both (and for the party) if you would just stand back and heal.

I appreciate the fact that you think you can do it on your own, but if you want I can go find my own group of enemies and hold + crit them, and be done before you are done

And it's wierd, on orien battle-clerics are mostly hated above all else. I've gotten comments that my fighter splash makes me completely incompetent at healing. After I explain to them I'm Radiant Servant with Emp. Heal, Quicken, and the ITWF & OTWF, dwarf, with 2 Dwarven Axes at lvl 11, they insist those 2 levels of fighter make me useless as a healer. Of course, then I run with them...and it's all good, but most won't even want to run with me. Not that I care, lol, I'm built for duoing with my Girlfriend, and running with Guildies when we do group. I just find it funny in the odd pug group the paladin S&B with 125HP at lvl 12 and an AC of 26 ....dies instantly, and lucky to get a kill. My personal limit is 3 Raise Deads-then I just say I'm outa scrolls and don't have the spell keyed up....but battle-clerics suck, and it was all my fault...ha ha ha....
