That is correct. I tried to make it as light weight as possible. It's a bell that could be added later to tell you the character name you entered was not found.

You may want to consider adding that in. I'm a horrible speller and I can just see nerd rages breaking out because people can't spell character names correctly.

Or the fact.. "yes, I"m off timer! *logs in* what? I'm on timer? Stupid tool lied!" all because a player can't type their own "name."

The editor copied the URL link. Try it again. Worked fine for me. Or enter the URL by hand.

What didnt work? Every name I've put in works fine.

On a couple of my Characters, I had to unclick then Reclick the "Public" box and resave to get them to come up without login.

And yes, I still think its a bad idea the option even exists and should be removed, no 2 urls, no. Yes some people should care more, some might miss its not a DDO site, it is really nothing that should ever exist, no matter how good the intentions.

Asking ANY person for login data on a 3rd party site, transferring credentials unencrypted is Bad, bad, bad. Even if its optional, even its with good intentions etc. It generally lowerls people reason therefore must not be.

no, I still dont get it. Its a forum account.... not anything tied to any kind of credit or personal info.

Never give out your username and password to anyone for any reason.
Your password is encrypted on the server's database as a security measure.
Going to a third party like that and you give them user/pass unencrypted.

This is especially disturbing if you use the same ones for you billing account as you bank info could be compromised or charges added maliciously.

All someone needs to do is set up a simple clickjack iframe and wait for someone to enter that info and press the hidden overlayed submit and they now have your data.


The one basic number one security issue always listed first in every single security system and warning is NEVER GIVE YOUR USERNAME AND PASSWORD OUT.

Even Turbine says 'we will never ask you for your username and password'

How do you know the posters account is not compromised and a scammer has this?


Check out clickjacking now....google it.
It is the number one easiest thing to do right now as no browser can stop it, nor can a website right now. It is a major hack.
MS has an option you can add to your pages to help when their browser comes in, but the site has to use it and you have to have a later verison of IE. Or you can get clickjacked with no way to stop it.
Firefox protects you if you use 'no script' however, then that application will not run, forcing you to have it on.

There is no other protection from clickjacking at this time....period.
