Angry When are they ever going to fix the servers?

Don't give me any of that **** abut working on things, this is getting ridiculous! Not only is there lag, there's situational lag. Will you people please buy some blade servers! Get rid of those old servers that you bought in 1997! Thanks to a network tech I know I found out they are using servers that are just barely able to run the game at it's lowest level. My friend said that the servers are at least 7 years old if not older! Get with the program fidiots!

Is this a serious post? I have had no lag issues for about two weeks running now. (now AoC is a different matter..)

I and my party members are expiriencing the same 'situaltional lag' problem too.
For example in C.Chamber, if party seperated and just trying to run pass through everything, it's really horrible.
Have to cast spells 3 times or more to land them down.

If the information that you gathered is factual, they DEFINATELY need to update thier servers ASAP. Now, the fact that they can't run the game at the lowest quality on a server doesn't bother me. Reasoning for this is it's a dedicated server which is only meant for transporting data from the parent software, to the clients.

But if the said servers are 7+ years older, they are running on outdated hardware which could lead to conflicts with the client computers. Updating the hardware would reduce lag due to the advancements in core technologies. Turbine, if you're reading this, we need to know.

What are the specs of the servers that you guys are using? And be truthful.

    Respectfully,

    Thumbs down

Mu join date doesn't matter since I have several accounts and the join date on this one just shows that it's the most recent. I bought the game the week it was made public. have been playing ever since. Can you say the same?

That would be AI lag. I have reproduced this lag in Coalescence Chamber after the new AI adjustments soloing with fair ease (charm some stuff and watch the AI eat up the server). Just tell a couple people to die and it should clear up a bit.

So are you saying, all who shall defy the cow, dies? :P

    Jk
Seriously though, the new ai scripting is lacking. Or at least, the way that the optamized it is.

then why hide behind this id? if youve been around as long as you say you have then you know not much merit is placed upon complaint threads that are newly created, esp ones that are based on non-facts.

I am sorry but this is easily the silliest statement I have read on these forums to date.

Firstly outdated hardware is a subjective term. Outdated in reference to what? The computer you play your game on? I am not disputing there is lag issues and they may need to upgrade. But please be correct here since a lot of people know nothing about computers, as you clearly do.

Secondly and most importantly, having "outdated" hardware can NEVER. I will say it again, NEVER cause you conflicts with your newer client computers. Hardware plays no factor in how one computer talks to the server in this environment. This is all about software serveing out content based on requests or actions by the client software. If the computer could keep up an XT machine would do just fine talking to your Quad-core Intel 3 Billion Ghz machine as long as the client/server softwares knew the same language.

Back to the topic at hand. Solving issues of lag is probably more complex then you all realize. Firstly they have to shift through enormous amounts of data to determine actual events that can be tracked to the lag and not an issue with the internet, either the upstream carrier or your carrier.

Then once that is gathered, they need to get a timeline developed for the system administrators to review performance logs on the various servers (Yes they must be clusters) to see if a particular function caused the lag (Slow DB, Slow API, whatever). THEN they can go about addressing this.

Simply putting in more servers may solve the problem it may not if this isn't a hardware performance issue but a software performance issue.

If you are all so concerned about lag. Give them the details, submit reports which most rarely do. Get them times to establish a time frame to base the investigation off of.

    Help them Help you.

Don't just whine in the forums, it does nothing.

Well, if your posting with this account, that means your other forum account was Banned... Which just lowers your credibility even more IMO.

Also, the fact that you seem to think "Blade Server" is some sort of Super server is comical. Blade type servers can certainly be set up to handle a vast array of functions, but generally arent used as MMO servers.

I experienced the same thing the OP reports every night over the past two weeks. So did the rest of the groups I was in.

There ya go. I know when someone talks to me that way, well, I just can't wait to do anything they want. I'm sure once they see this post they will get right on that, perhaps delay mod 7 to address your concern even. Who knows?

I don't find references to "a network tech" that "you" know to be what I would consider credible evidence of anything.

You should try EverQuest sometime. An unexpected little problem resulted in the servers coming down abruptly while I just happened to be getting a rez. When they came back up hours later my naked self was minus a full set of raid gear and two quested epics I'd spent quit a bit of time aquiring. A week later I got said gear back. Needless to say, I was not a happy cleric. Not that I have anything against raiding naked mind you but I do prefer my character to be fully clothed. The world of Norrath is patched on a weekly basis for hours and more often than not the net result is more bugs and issues than fixes and new content? Well, that's going to cost you a retail expansion my friend.
