Default Best 1handed ooze beater at cap?

Tired of needing to repair a set of throwaway named weapon every couple ooze encounters in ee or reaper content while I try to get enough schism shards to make some soulrazors.

Should every melee just break down and use a blackrazor regardless and of fighting style whenever they see a pack of oozes?

In lower level content you can just pull out a ranged weapon but once you get epic defensive fighting and mob hp gets super bloated that is no longer an option. One or two packs and your current weapon usually breaks.

How does your non 2handed melee handle rusties and oozes?

Broccoli Bashers are pretty good, but you can only get them during the Anniversary Event.

on my melee rogue, I use spectral daggers, but they are an event item

Muck's Obliteration is good for oozes and rusties https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Muck%27s_Obliteration

On my Fighter I use either the Broccoli Basher or Shining Devastation https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Shining_Devastation depending on ig I am S&B or THF that life.

Here is a link that leads to other weapons good for oozes https://ddowiki.com/page/Crystal

If you don't want to break down and cannith craft your own, celestia works.

If you don't mind the chance of splitting oozes:
    axe of adaxus
Spectral Dagger (another limited time to aquire item)

First time I saw M'Obliteration, I was impressed - then I saw that all those nice damage effects were "on critical". Oozes being immune to crits, made it kinduva bummer.

Oozes have low Fortification so you can "pierce" through and land critical's but I agree...

On-crit procs still proc if the crit is denied by fortification. The base damage doesn't get multiplied, but the effects still trigger. (Stuff like Maiming, etc...)

Oozes have 100% fortification, same as undead, elementals, plants, non-living constructs, and will o' wisps.

Nightmother's sceptre, or any necro focus stick, most can be killed with FoD / CoD / Wail.

The best part in my mind about the broccoli beater is that you can make it sentient.

For a long time my rogue was using Celestias for this, but the damage kept on getting further behind and the AoEs pick up more aggro than I wanted. Plus the sunburst effect is blinding for players especially if you're standing in the middle of it.

It became much less of an issue for assassins after oozes were added to the creature types that can be assassinated. But by that time I'd crafted some anarchic daggers of everbright and fitted them with neg level rubies from mabar. They certainly aren't top DPS but they are decent and let my character take advantage of the crit improvements he gets with his favourite weapon.

I didn't have the stomach to farm up the festival daggers. The broccoli bashers would have been far more useful if they'd been a finessable and simple weapon like a light mace instead of a club, so I skipped those too.

I'd love to see everbright augments added to the game so we could slot the weapons of our choice and have them resist damage from oozes rather than being so narrowly restricted with our choices in this area.

    Thanks.

At cap it should be soulrazor, right? At least for reaper where things like ooze bane and stuff will do minimal damage. For two handed I use blackrazor

This is most likely correct. But farming up a soulrazor for the sole purpose of killing oozes would be pretty nuts haha. I have Crystal Alchemical weapons that I use from 20 to 30, or sometimes I use Celestia depending on the build.

I am 9 schism shards away from a set long term goals. Thanks for the reminder about alchemical and celestia. Have a couple scims in the bank I can convert and a raiders box as well may turn in for one.
