Default LvL7 Ranger with only 1 spell slot

Ok Yes I'm new to DDO. Been looking for the answer with no luck. I have a L7 Ranger with only 1 spell slot. But everything I read show I should have 2.

What can I look for or change to get access to the second slot?

Right. That is what I thought, but dragging a second spell like I did with the first. Nothing goes in the slot. I have tried all the available spells to me and non will snap to into the slot.

FYI I have logged out several times sense 6th level. Still the same.

    Are you in a tavern?

to change spells (for those classes that can on the fly), you have to be either a) in a tavern, or 2) after resting at a rest shrine in a quest.

For classes that do not have more spells "known" than they have slots (e.g. Sorcerers, Warlocks), they can pay some plat and exchange spells at any trainer.

I think your Wisdom stat may also affect your spells per level. It used to in 1st edition AD&D.

Some advice - don't think of DDO as tabletop D&D. At least, not as any edition you've ever played or heard described. Think of DDO as a new edition, based on the old, but different in surprising ways.

Spell slots are fixed by class level, not dependent on a controlling attribute. No "bonus spells", except by more spell points from a higher stat value.

    Read the wiki.

Good point. DDO Ranger needs Wisdom (10 + spell level).
Maybe I miss being a DM from 1st & 2nd edition more than I realized.

I had that with a fun build : There was an error message basically saying that my amount of Wisdom was too low ... I had to use an item with Wisdom to be able to slot a higher spell into the slot - and to use it later.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
