So far I've only worked out my gear set for levels 15 to low/mid epics. However, I'm trying to figure out if I can make cloak/boots/armor more malleable, as the challenge items have better lore/spellpower than is craftable at their levels. Also maybe infused chaos robe.
Most of the items would be the same on each build, except the goggles (int/wis swap) and ring/weapon (spellpower/lore)

Shimmer, brazenband, and increased potential get me quality spell focus (could use mutilator of minds or spinneret instead for quality spell focus), and insightful enchant and evo, letting me get 3 insightful focuses. It also more or less covers spell pen and (regular) charisma from 15-20/22. The insightful spell pen is 1 lower than crafted from lvl 10-22, and the regular spell pen is 1 less than crafted from 17-22. The charisma is 1 lower than crafted from 18-20. With my attempt at getting rid of clutter, that's a compromise I'm willing to make.
Oh, and most people seem to go for con/op or smoke greensteel. I'm fond of balance of land and sky hp/dex skills, hp/con skills, sp/cha skills. Gets me +6 umd, a decent mix of sp/hp, 11 balance and *stacking* +3 saves.
Also, if looking to save some crafting slots, false life and wizardry augments aren't *too* far behind crafted.
Edit: No room for the torc and litany I managed to pull saddens me.

I would use the following, and craft my gear around these:
ML5: crafted +2 spell focus
ML8: slavers +2 spell focus, spinneret, executioner's plate
ML10: crafted goggles +3/+2 spell focus for primary school
ML13: pansophic circlet
ML15: earthen mantle + brazenband
I'd wand blur
I'd use reaper AP for dodge

I like this for a spell stick at IR for the sonic, http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Hammer_...uds_(Level_14). Really jsut because it looks cool. I will drag out that orb and pair next times I hit the audio. I like the orange slot.
I craft allot of my spells sticks or look for loot gen weapons. I think I'm rockin' the bracers and necklace from heroic Wheloon on that toon as well.

I farmed up a plain vanilla pansophic circlet, plus all the collectables I would need to make three full sets of the breakdown I posted on the first page. (I ended up farming 100+ each of runic parchments and romantic sonnets...ouch! Plus like 80 ancient texts and 24 ornate charms, but those were nothing compared to all those parchments and sonnets.)
After that traumatizing collectable farm, I'm uncertain about committing to the gearset quite yet. To help ease my mind, I'd like to plan out my pure pale master leveling gear for context. This is what I have for levels 15 to 30; what do you think?
Pale Master (Level 15)

The trinket would be the only common crafted item shared by the cleric and pale master.
Resistance is relegated to a blue augment, which is 1 behind crafted during heroics, 2 behind crafted for epics. Close enough.
I wanted dodge and insightful dodge, but ended up dropping it for the mummy wraps.
Is there any other key named items for pale masters I'm missing?
EDIT: I see False Life is slotted twice: Ring and Robe. That's due to the last-minute switch to mummy wraps. Nothing is jumping out at me as an obvious replacement for it on either the ring or robe.
