    Default Crafting Weapons - Options

Crafting up a couple of base items for my children's characters and looking at the options

Admantine Weapon ___________ of Construct bane of Insightful Deadly.

Weapon __________ of Undead Bane of Insightful Deadly

___________ Weapon of Aligned of Insightful Deadly (Marut)

Silver Weapon of Good of Chaotic Outsider Bane of Insightful Deadly - Devils

Any other weapons that I should really add to their toolbox?

I went with adamantine armor piercing of construct bane and insightful deadly. A level 30(34) weapon of this type gives 23 armor pierce. If that is enough to allow critical hits on things that are either highly resistant or immune to critical hits then it is worth going that path. Will eventually test once I get that character back to 30 at some point.

Look into unnatural bane instead of undead bane it's strictly better (assuming collectibles are not an issue.) Possibly made with silver for vampires and werewolves.

    Devils are lawful outsiders.

I personally use Force cold iron Weapon of Aligned as my normal walking-around weapon, slotting byeshk if I get lucky enough to find a cold iron blank with a red slot.

See my Weapon Recipes thread for more ideas.

@ OP - As are Reapers, btw, so that's doubly handy if you go there. Chaotic Outsiders include Demons, Djinn, and a smattering of "etc.'s".

This may be useful to see the various "banes" at a glance - see also note at bottom re bane weapons: http://ddowiki.com/page/Monster_types

I get how that's technically probably the most universal kit you can get, but isn't that overkill? Unless I'm way out of the loop, there is literally only a handful of targets with alignment DR that's other than good. You could slot it with good instead of force, and use bludgeoning/piercing/slashing as the second mod instead of aligned for free damage that would still work against the vast majority of all mobs in the game.

It's for thaarak hounds, eladrin and maruts. I particularly like not having to drag around a crafted beater for archons. Force of aligned is also much cheaper to craft than good of <dps suffix>.

That's why I thought that was overkill. But I guess it being cheaper and saving a slot are good selling points.
