Default HELP! I just threw away the game (no help from tech support)

I just trashed the game to see if re-downloading it would fix the issue of the game not loading since Thursday patch.

Since the Thurs.patch The game still seems to "bug" out when loading. It goes through the initial loading sequence then I get this
Done applying patch(s). 1859 total bytes down
    Cannot save data files.

then after a "Retry" of 1 min (every 60 secs)
    "An update error occurred".

NOW, since trying to re-download the game.

The initial click on the icon (nothing is even downloaded) it opens the the DDO primary DDO online window start to run its task "Overall" fills the blue bar the switches to retry "countdown" goes through a 60 sec and quits the game.

    "An update error occurred:"
    Unknown error: Oxfffffff80004005

anything from anyone may be of some help, since you cant seem to call the game anymore and as I'm seeing "form certain posts" Tech support is pointless (as in getting any form of response)

The "correct" place to post this message is in the Windows PC Technical Support forum (Forums->Service and Support->Windows PC Technical Support Forum). Correct as in the place where you are most likely to get a response that will fix your problem.

That being said, there isn't enough information to identify the cause of your problem in what you have posted.

Possible causes that I would consider based on what you posted
Disk errors (block errors, disk being full, protection on DDO files set to read only)
    virus infection
    anti-virus misbehavior
    spyware/adware
    messed up registry entries

Now that you have attempted to remove DDO to re-install (which is not an unreasonable approach, I have done it multiple times), add
incomplete removal of DDO causing things to bump in the night

I would recommend starting by assessing the overall health of your PC: amount of free space on disk, run a check disk, etc

No, I am not technical support, I'm just a lowly Oracle DBA
The blinking Drooam "backpack" is NOT a party buff. But its fun to say it is.

I would try the alternate install from Stoner81.

First, just go ahead and delete your entire Dungeons and Dragon Online folder from Program Files (x86). It doesn't work anyway, so no worries, right?

Next, use DDO-Wrapper (custom installer) to install the game.

This "install" mainly just copies files. Stoner's files are as of Thursday's patch, meaning once it's installed, your game will already be fully current and won't need to be updated at all.

Sounds like it could be a permissions thing.
