    Default Returning after 3 years

Friends, Guildmates, Enemies, Mods and Devs, it has been a while. Last night after more than one glass of the Old Bushmills I decided to wax nostalgic and peruse the DDO Forms to see if anything caught my eye. When I last left Thunderhome was fairly new and I dabbled a bit into that crafting system while doing a few successful runs of those raids which were new at the time.

Since then it seems as if some old content has been made epic and there is also some new areas to explore as well as a new Reaper system and a new class (Warlock). After subjecting myself to hundreds of hours on Baldurs Gate I/II, and Icewind Dale, Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 4 I decided to re-activate my old DDO account and have a little fun.

I am sure the script has been re-written more than once and what was a viable build is now nerfed, and hopefully in the years past classes that suffered greatly since release back in 2006 have gotten some love (Paladins and Bards come to mind).

My plan is to focus on my main, who was a completionist when I left, and see how things look. The game is still downloading, but I want to say Grimmlock left off around the early 20's as a Wizard back when you had to grind and grind and grind those epic past lives. I recall the struggle to get XP was very real so hoping this new Reaper system can mitigate leveling up a bit faster.

Anyways I am happy to see those of you still around. I have no idea if Thelanis has died off over the years and if it behooves me to consider migrating servers - I have been on Thelanis since this game came out and would prefer to stay loyal if at all possible.

Hope to see many of you in game and my sincerest apologies up front for my old butt trying to dust off the cobwebs on how this game works!

    They have.

The short story is that generally heavier armour is now the preferred defense (over Evasion), but DPS is king. Meanwhile, w/ the new Reaper, ranged builds are superior, and healers are making a come back (after falling off w/ all the self-healing options for practically every build).

But the really good news is that depending exactly when (re updates) you last logged on, you might find a +20 Heart of Wood in each of your Characters' inventories, thoughtfully dropped to solve exactly the problem you describe.

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome. Just got my Warlock to cap (meh. Warlock.) and researching final life build ideas for Grim now that he will have access to Completionist once again. I don't know how many lives he has as I know for sure doubling up has happened more than once on certain classes. He also has two Epic TR's under his belt - Doublestrike/Colors. Grimmlock started off as a human greatsword user when DDO came out and I would like to finish him off that way with as much of an optimal build as I can put together. He has amassed a lot of gear not to mention dual-wielded Khopesh's for a long time so there's that.

No idea what is viable these days anymore. Years ago I had no problem putting out considerable damage on a blitz - if that is even a thing anymore or if they nerf'd it. Push comes to shove I can always TR or Epic TR into something else! :-)

Thanks C-Dog! Great thread on builds! Will be very useful in my research. Very happy to see healers making a comeback. Saulot is sitting still at level 28 on his third or fourth life all previously FvS/Cleric/Sorc so he should be sitting pretty.

If you go to the feats tab in the character sheet and hover over the past life feats you have it should tell you how many times you've earned them.
