Default Proof Against Poison/Disease vs Poison/Disease Ward shards

Prior to crafting update I had made quite a few "proof against" effects on items for characters, but I can't see any recipe for them now, but now there are "ward" recipes that seem to be a similar effect, have they just replaced one with the other in crafting, ie just a name change?

The reason I ask is I notice you can still get the "proof against" effects on augments in store, so wasn't sure if they were different effects.

I assume it is the same. When stuff gets updated or modified, they sometimes change the name--take 'dextrous' to 'nimble' in random loot, for example. Poison Ward is a scaling prefix and should act like the old version. Unless someone else has found differently.

Be aware that there are two different shards for poison, four shards total.

    Poison Resistance, Insightful Poison Resistance
Reduces damage, similar to how fire resistance reduces fire damage.

    Poison Ward
    Disease Ward
Bonus to saves, and you no longer automatically fail on a 1. (Pretty sure that "don't fail on a 1" thing is still part of it.)

    Insightful Poison Ward
    Insightful Disease Ward
Bonus to saves, but doesn't grant the special "don't auto-fail on a 1." (Not positive on this.)

The question was really just about the one specific new/old shard, but you have prompted another question which I will get to in a moment.

As I said in original post, the regular "ward" shards were a new appearence with the new crafting update and the "proof" shards vanished, and as both referenced the "don't auto-fail on a 1" element it seemed it was just a name change of same shard.

It was just the fact that the "proof" ones do still exist in game via augments ( they could have changed the name on those to ward surely?), so I just wanted to clarify that it was a duplicate effect just with a different name, in the same way the augment "sapphire of defence" duplicates the "sheltering" effect.

Now to the other point, "insightful" add a stacking bonus to the regular type of same effect, thats simple enough, but that leaves the relationship of "resistance" and "ward", how exactly do those interact with each other?

The other damage types (acid, cold, electricity, fire and sonic ), have "resistance" and "absorption" effects, both reduce damage in a specific order, how exactly do the "resistance and "ward" effects of the poison and disease damage types work together?

They don't interact. One is a bonus to your saving throw against the effect, the other reduces the damage you suffer.

Think of it like an enemy has just cast a fireball at you, and you have both a reflex save shard and a fire resistance shard equipped.

Ah ofc, the resistance reduces damage and the ward is the save.

Thanks, I think everything is clear now , I have wasted quite a few resources adding effects that gave no benefit as I already had a duplicate effect just with another name so am very cautious now lol
