soul gems are not accepted by the crafting machine ??

i tried to create some 'bane x' shards to craft weapons.

but it seems that sould gems (made by my wizard with soul gem spell) are not accepted by the crafting machine.

is bugged ? or what ?

I tried putting Cetus's soulstone in the crafting alter but it wouldn't take it..
Should have been able to make a level 1 kobold hireling out of him..

The wiki still lists those gems as requirements for the Bane recipes. And, I just looked at the crafting recipe in-game (Sarlona) last night for Undead Bane and it still listed the gems as well. I didn't actually craft it however. Are you saying that when you actually craft one of the banes, the gem is not required?
If so, that'd be awesome, but definitely needs to be bug-reported.

Were you trying to use strong gems? The new recipes all use regular gems. (The 11-20 HD version, IIRC.)

All bound recipes that require soul gems use regular soul gems (11-20) All unbound recipes that use soul gems use strong soul gems. All bane except Elemental, Incorporeal, and Unnatural (bound and unbound) and Dragon (bound) use soul gems. Also, Magical beast bane seems to not exist though the shards still drop.


P.S. Anyone come across Essence of the Crusader required for Lawful Outsider bane?
