Just to be clear as to the "why" on sundering: You can currently turn a Greater Essence into five Lesser Essences, so if we did a 1:1 trade in on both Greater and Lesser Essences for one new Cannith Essence, it'd be a 1:1 trade in on Greaters and .2:1 trade in on Lessers. I appreciate that it'd be awesome to convert down all your greaters for five times the benefit, but...

Just for ****s and giggles if I remember I'll look and see how many I have. I have no doubt I've burned over 100K lessers on shards of potential that I haven't used.

When you decon most of your loot for crafting mats, you have a LOT of extra lesser!
I am guessing you made those mainly for xp which wont be lost and which you enjoyed the fruits of maybe for years. I honestly dont see an issue here - and definitely dont think a major part of the shards should be reimbursed. I have some myself but not as many as you.

Default if only someone could make a handy chart...

Showing what we used to be able to craft, versus what we now can craft!

I just want someone to tell me what to craft before the changes hit. Mastercrafted demon beaters? etc. What should I make that if I don't I'll be kicking myself for missing the oppurtunity!

We are also considering what to do about the already-crafted shards, but don't have something more specific to announce at this time.

We imagine that Cannith Crafting will be particularly valuable on Lamannia for this kind of thing.

Meh, lots of logic and reasonable decisions here...where's the drama?

I consider the inability to craft SPEED items a dealbreaker. As in, maybe this update won't bring me back to the game after all.

Yep, mostly. But it would be nice to be able to decon them like all the other shards I made that I made for xp!

I'm not going to uh.......cause major civil unrest or anything over it , nor has it invalidated all my effort ........but it would just be nice.

On the whole, I'm very pleased with this design. I do wonder about how much shift it will make between the load on current Ingredient vs Collectible bags. Obviously there will be some migration of load from Ingredients (All the current lesser & greater essences converted into one) to Collectibles (adding new high-level collectibles). Obviously this will free up slots in Ing. bags while using more slots in Collectible bags. However, the flipside is that since all the Ings that currently take up multiple slots will combine into one, we will actually be able to store fewer of the new Ings in our bags. (Suppose you have a 2500 stack bag: with a couple of dozen types of greater and lesser essences, you could theoretically carry around 60K essences; with the new single crafting essence, you'd be limited to 2500). For those who own the "Bag Deposit Box" (Ing/Collectible storage at the bank), this will not be a major issue, but for those who don't it will seriously crimp their ability to store the new essences, comparatively speaking.

    Yeah THIS!

Honestly, with the new random loot, I don't even know what a level 20 strength item is, or what the range is, or whatever. +8? +9? +8 to +10? I just don't know.
I don't think the wiki has that info of what range of values we can find at certain MLs.

    Default Deconstruction option

I may be way out of line on this one, but.. does anyone use the "Junk" settings in inventory? I lock anything I want to keep and sell everything else (locking it while it's in the sell window, if I overlooked it).

Seems to me that if the "Junk" functionality is currently underutilized, it could be converted to "Deconstruct for crafting essences". Then one could theoretically decon at any vendor. Sure, it's a bit odd to think of breaking down magical items at the store, but it's magic, right? Or alternatively, the store does it for us (and possibly charges a %age of the essences as their "cut", giving incentive for min/maxers to decon at a crafting station).

The functionality that allows "lock"ing items when they show in the sell list could add the option to "Junk" them in the same interface, to make it truly painless.

This wouldn't be such an issue if there were more material types that we could craft on such as glass, crystal, and if we still had access to darkleaf for druids.

I've got bags filled. All types. I've been trying to craft them down and list on AH/Shard, but just too many. Lots of ingreadiants in them shards. Likewise, I have tons of Shard of Potential. I won't be able to use them all by the time they go away. BTW I'm very happy that Shards of Potential going away. Woot!

So what about consolidating all the various half-finished crafting systems? Nice to fix Cannith crafting, but its only part of the problem.

I use the junk setting all the time to make certain items easier to find, to remind myself to transfer them to the bank, another character or another player, to mark items for decon, and occasionally to vendor stuff.

That said, it would also be a great way to mark things for bulk decon.

Is there any way to NOT ADD MORE INGREDIENTS?

We have got so many crafting systems, with so many ingredients, we could make all of those unbound and USE THEM for cannith crafting. heck it might even revitalize some of the content.

    We've got:

    Greensteel.
    Thunderforged.
    Alchemical and nearly finished stuff.
    Cannith Challenge
    Eveningstar Challenge
    Commendations of several sorts.
    Dragon scales.
    Ancient relics.
    Altar of Insanity
    Unraveling Enchantments
    Taps, fountain of necrotic might.
    Dampened
    Sora Katra
    Dreamforge
    Dragontouched
    Incredible Potential
    Epic s/s/s and tokens.
All the collecibles that already exist
    TOEE
    Planar Shards
    Outsider Tokens
    Adamanatine ore

And god knows how many more.

    WE'VE GOT ENOUGH INGREDIENTS!!!

How about for high level recipes, we use some of those? People would actually have to run some content and stuff to get rare ingredients. Plus, Thudnerforged, Epic s//s/s, epic TOEE, leg GS, ......are already high level ingredients?

How about it? JUST SAY NO TO NEW INGREDIENTS!! Give us a reason to dust off Reavers Refuge to get some freaking draconic runes to make my shard or awesomeness! Hey, look, I finally want to go get some magefire cannon parts so I can make my contruct bane shard! Get creative with it.

    PRETTY PLEASE?

Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? I know I can't be the only one with severe ingredient burnout.

    Default Prefix/Suffix

What about doing away with the distinction between Prefixes and Suffixes and allow one of Cannith Crafting's strengths be the ability to combine effects you can't find combined on Random loot? Doesn't seem to me that'd be terribly unbalancing, and it would add another level of simplification.

Even if you keep the Prefix/Suffix distinction, it seems obvious that deconstruction will no longer require the intervention of deciding whether you're deconning the Prefix effect or the Suffix effect, since the resulting essences will be the same. Decon can be as simple as selecting everything you want to trade for essences and click "Go". Obviously creating a blank still needs to be an option, but frankly, I think modifying the workstation layout would fix that: One workstation to make blanks, one to decon, then it gets fuzzier depending on how this plays out: One to make shards and one to install them, perhaps? Feels to me I might be overlooking a step... Could combine making blanks and installing shards at the same workstation, if preferred: Put in a RNG item and it makes it a blank; put in a blank and get prompted for shards.
