    Default Quick Cannith Crafting questions

The Cannith crafting looks pretty in depth from the wiki. Before I spend a bunch of time and effort getting components and leveling up my crafting I have a few questions.

    1. Do Cannith crafted items only get 1 prefix and 1 suffix?

    2. What is the highest number of shards/properties that can be put on a blank item?

    3. What's the highest minimum level item that can be crafted? I was messing around with the Cannith crafting planner, and I didn't see anything over lvl 20.

    4. Is there any level where Cannith crafting becomes basically useless, or can it be useful all the way up to lvl 30?

    Thanks in advance.

The current system allows for one prefix and one suffix. This is because prior to the recent changes to weapons, random items could only have one of each.

I think the highest I've seen is a 15 potential.

I'm not 100% sure here, but I think 20 is the highest.

Cannith Crafting is very useful for Heroic levels especially for those that like to TR. No it is not entirely uses, it is more situational. There are craftable things like arrows which could be more useful for different builds. Then there is the Flexible shards. Much of this is dependent on your gear availability.

    1. Yes.
    2. prefix, suffix, masterful, enhancement (to hit/ac) plus stone of change
    3. IIRC level 20 (artificial cap)
    4. depends upon who you ask - but it is always somewhat useful, depending on many variables. YMMV.

    1. You only get 1 prefix and 1 suffix
    2. 15
    3. 20 as of right now
    4. It depends

Cannith crafted gear is the same as the old random loot though you only get one prefix and one suffix max. It can have an augment slot as well as it can be made from an advanced material.

One of its upsides is that it allows you to make gear for a specific slot, since it is rare to find a piece of gear with the perfect set of effects you are seeking for the specific equipment slot you are trying to fill.

What its great at is situational use, meaning, if you are having a problem with a particular quest, you can craft specific gear for specific slots that will enable you to to be a better match towards that particular quest. I end up with many items that all have small windows of uses during a characters life.

As an example, I recently made a portal killer weapon by getting a 2 handed adamantine sword and bestowing it with construct bane and good. I used it only in the shroud phase 1 to kill the portals, and it worked fantastically for that. Thats the only place I used it.

Mastercrafting removes 2 potential cost from the finished piece but at the cost of being bound to character. You can not make mastercrafted gear for anyone except the crafting character.

There are some other limitations on crafting, where by default certain effects can only go onto jewlery, and others that only go onto clothing. Some of these limitations can be overcome when you are a high level crafter by making 'flexible' shards, which allow effects to be placed onto a larger variety of items. Some effects you just dont get either.

here is a link to a very well made crafting planner. http://cannith.cubicleninja.com/
It can help you plan ahead to see if what you want to do will work, and if so, what you need to do it. Be sure to consult it, as there are some odd moments within the system.

It can be incredibly frustrating, especially all the time spent to obtain the essence, but when you do finally max out your crafting levels and then reincarnate, it makes great low and mid level gear. Its unlikely to be your final gear.

Gingerspyce of Sarlona made a few great crafting tutorials that are well worth checking out if you are considering crafting. Worth the look

    Really, no. 8)

How about Proof against Poison/Disease prefix? They can be added after any first prefix, "overwright" it, and after this possible add any suffix, therefore, we can craft item with 2 prefix and 1 suffix. :P

    Bug, of course, but, nevertheless...

The new lootgen is missing DR breakers and Everbright weapons for oozes. Those can still be crafted. (The new lootgen "weapon's xxx effect" does damage, but does not actually break DR.)

A Mastercrafted BTA blank stays BTA.

Masterful Craftsmanship works like any other bound shard: Pass the shard itself (BTA) to any of your alts via the shared bank and have them apply it to the item.

Deconstruct items until you hit level 30 in all three classes.

This is a big one. If you do make shards for craft leveling XP, you can deconstruct shards and get back some of the essences that you used.

    Default Pro Tips

    1
A crafted item is usually BTC BUT If you craft an item onto a base item that is BTA, it will remain BTA.
You can get BTA items that can be used for blanks from the reward lists of some of the older quests.
Craft items that are useful to several toons, especially items that need rare components. Like Ring Of Resistance +5

    2
Some Named items (Rune arms and Cannith Challenge items) are 'craftable'. You can actually reduce the ML of these items with a Masterful Craftsmanship shard.

New (returning) player Q - If you use Dust of Disjunction* on an item w/ an Augment slot, it keeps the slot as the new (blank) item, right? And any existing Augment gem is lost in the process?

(That's how it worked w/ the old Guild Augments - of which I have a LOT of blanks lying around.) :/

(* Crafting 101 - There are 3 basic things you can do to a random craftable (non-named) item to get something useful out of it - 1) deconstruct it for Essence (which destroys the item); 2) deconstruct it for it's "plus" value (+1, +4, whatever) (which also destroys the item); OR 3) strip (and lose) ALL magic and have a "blank" item, ready for new crafting. I'm asking about that last one.)

Yes, blank augment slots and also filled augment slots stay exactly as they are.

It never happened for me anyways. I liked to buy planeforged full plate armor with a blue augment slot since its equippable at level 2, and recraft it as my character grew or my questing needs changed.

Thats not to say there isnt a new bug, or that old behavior was a bug that got fixed.

I havent tried it since their U30 update.

My main has a ring with a colorless slot that I have slotted with Master's Gift so I get the 5%XP bonus at level 1. As I level I add some else to the ring depending on what I need.

I also have several BTA rings with other effects added that I switch as needed.

Get a good DR breaker weapon with red augment slot, slot in a ruby eye and then craft and recraft as You level up and then again in next life(s).
You nerfed my monks, throwers, dailies and alchemists.
I hardly play anymore, found a better hobby.
    Thank You!

Correct. Slotted augments persist through disjunction.
