Builds are grouped by primary class, and within each class by New Player / Premium / Outdated Builds.

New Player Builds can be rolled up and played by a brand new player without spending a penny on the game. For premium classes, new player builds are defined as a build that doesn't require any premium features other than the class.

Premium Builds include pay features (premium races/classes, iconics, tomes, harper agent, 32pt builds) or past lives. A brand new player can start with a premium build if they already have the listed premium features unlocked. For example, if the only premium features listed are Gnome and Warlock, a VIP can roll it up immediately.

Outdated Builds include both New Player and Premium builds. There are two reasons a build could be listed as outdated. First, if the author has officially abandoned it due to game changes making something else clearly superior. (eg: Centered Kensei is strong, but the paladin pass made paladins clearly stronger.) Second, if it hasn't been updated since its class trees have been updated. (eg: The Dwarven Defender is a strong S&B tank build, but hasn't been updated since the Vanguard tree was added.) If a build concept has been completely broken by game changes, it won't be included in these lists.

In other words, there are legitimate reasons to consider rolling up any of the Outdated Builds listed in this thread.

This build, OTOH, I would consider obsolete; I never got around to updating it since the U25 rogue overhaul. And while I have posted other Acrobat builds here & there, all of them rely on at least +3 or 4 STR tome to hit THF feat pre-reqs, so not exactly newbie-friendly.

Also there aren't enough gimpy flavor builds listed, so I nominate this DEX-based elf rogue AA.

You might also want to consider earmarking new-player (28 pt/Drow) builds and also solo builds, which are sub-categories within all the above classes.

Just a suggestion: subdivide Specialists into Bow, Thrower, Bow/Thrower hybrids (even if this repeats with Ranger and monk) along with other possible specialist divisions.

I would also add a 200 word description summarizing each build (I know that is a lot of work, but this looks like it will get pretty big).

200 words is a short essay - unnecessarily long and bulky imo. ~50 words should sum it up, and the user can compare details or ask in forums if they feel they need to.

And if someone wants a "ranged" build but are picky about the exact weapon, ~they~ can go to the trouble of sorting for exactly what they want.

That said, "ranged" (aka Archer) is a valid sub-category of many classes - ranger, rogue, cleric, druid, etc.

Kent's Custom Builds should be removed from the highlighted section on build help. There haven't been any new builds since Update 47. That's before the Fables of the Feywild came out and before the Epic Destinies revamp.
