Question current system requirements and windows 10

I'm going to have to get a laptop for school, I'd like to know what are the specs currently needed to play the game - how much memory/graphic/processing speed is really needed.

If this has been posted somewhere, please point me there or just post what you find successful. Also I've been holding off upgrading my windows 7 system to windows 10 - is there any success playing on a windows 10 o/s?

    Thanks,
    Jules

Jules, I found this in the wiki http://ddowiki.com/page/System_requirements

    Minimum System Requirements[edit]
See also: Running DDO on a Potato (2015 performance tests)

    O.S.: Windows® XP
Processor: P4 1.6 GHz or AMD equivalent with SSE
    Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics64 MB Hardware T&L -compatible video card
    Renderer: DirectX® 9.0c
    Disc Space: 11GB available
    Network Connection: Broadband Internet connection

    Recommended System Requirements[edit]
O.S.: Windows® System XP SP2/XP64/Vista/Vista64/7** OS (with the latest Service Packs or updates)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or AMD equivalent with SSE
Memory: 1 GB RAM, 2GB RAM for high resolution textures
    Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® FX 5900 or ATI Radeon™ 9600 with 128MB or better
    Renderer: DirectX® 9.0c
Disc Space: 11 GB available, 15 GB available for high resolution textures
    Network Connection: Broadband Internet connection

I upgraded from 7 to 10 and have had no problem running the game. My problem is the combination of certain Nvidia cards/drivers and Win 10 causes Pc"s to randomly restart.

From personal experience running it at 1 gig, 2 gig, 3 gig, and 8 gigs of memory, you want 3 gig or higher.

At 2 gig, the game thrashes the hard drive when you change areas. At 3 gig, there's enough room for everything to stay in memory. That was back when I ran XP, though, so maybe figure 4 gig to accomodate Windows 10.

The more RAM you have the better, generally speaking most laptops these days have a minimum of 4GB though in my experience it is generally 8GB which is plenty. As for CPU I would recommend a Intel CPU over AMD all day long, a good starting point would be the i5-2500 (Sandy Bridge) which are pretty old so should be fairly cheap but they are still very good CPU's. Graphics wise you want something like the GTX480 or higher is what I would recommend, I use to have a GTX480 and it ran DDO maxed out at 1080p.

Lots of options out there since DDO isn't massively intensive by any means

As for Windows 10 I run it at home and have not had any issues with it apart from one or two things (thanks to Microsoft changing stuff but anyway), if you do upgrade to W10 you will probably need at least 8GB RAM since memory management in W10 is different than in W7. If you have a machine that you are currently looking at buying then you could post the link and we can take a look for you

Question I'd like some feedback on this build.

    Case- Phanteks enthoo pro
    Power supply- corsair RM850i
    SSD- Samsung 850 evo 250Gb
Video card- EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card
    Monitor- Asus VG248QE 144Hz 24.0" Monitor

    Option A:
    Processor- AMD FX-8320E
    Mobo- MSI 970 gaming
    RAM- G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

    Option B-
Your suggestion. Not ridiculously pricey but I'm willing to consider higher end options for a performance/dollar advantage.

I'm replacing a 3year old laptop that...well... Sucked. Bought the first set of items already the past few weeks.
Need to purchase the others in time to be gaming by the new year.

    Thanks all for your input.

EDIT: I also already have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler and will run win10
