Question about ToD Ring crafting

Wiki says you make a great shard of power then combine it with your ring and 9 trophies in the altar of subjugation.

Do you also need to put a medium shavarath energy cell in there to make it work? Every other shroud altar recipe (not counting fecundity) requires an energy cell. I'm wondering if the energy cell was an omission on wiki, or if it's really not needed?

I dont have an awnser but why not just plug the ring into the device? With the barter interface it should give you your awnser. It is not like it still uses the Eldricht device

When you do ring crafting...
craft the great shard for the effect you want.

Put the crafted shard, ring and 9 shavarath war trophies in the Altar of Subjugation (no energy cell required)
( there is one in the Devils Battlefield explorer area)
