What i need to craft a flawless red dragonscale armor ?

Sorry guys, i've read dozen of things but it seems to me a little bit confusing.

what exactly do i need to craft a red dragonscale armor ?

i've read somewhere that you need a 'shard of the red dragon'
where i can find that one ? in the vault of the night raid ?

well i made thousand of runs without findind it, maybe i wrong something ?

so the ingredients are : 20 flawless red scales, the shard of the red dragon.. and.. ?

and then.. ? what else i need ?

Yeah, it's kind of buried. At the bottom of this page, footnote 2 says:

2 - 20 Flawless Red Dragon Scales, 20 Epic Dungeon Tokens, any color Dragonscale Armor/Docent/Robe and a Shard of the Red Dragon are required.

Technically there is no Flawless Red Dragon Scale armor..
There are two red dragon armors that both require Flawless Red Dragon Scales.

1. Epic Red Dragonscale (Min level 20)
~Requires running Von6.
First go to GH and craft any color heroic scale armor (white, blue, or black, color doesn't matter) the type does matter (robe, docent.. whatever... this carry's forward into the red armor)
Shard of the red dragon (Drops only in the Von6 dragon raid chest on epic)
20 Flawless red dragon scales
and 20 Greater Token of the Twelve (formerly known as epic dungeon tokens)
You crunch all of those together at the epic alter (theres one outside in the twelve by the fire earth elemental) and you get the red version of the original colored scale armor.
(crafted GH Armor, Shard of red dragon, 20FRDS, 20Greaters)

2. Cormyrian Red Dragonscale (Min Level 23)
~Requires 375 Purple Dragon Knights favor (FR expansion)
Turn-in:
20 Flawless Red Dragon Scales
15 Commendations: Purple Dragon Knights
15 Commendations: War Wizards
3 Commendations of Heroism

1. Go to the altar of Epic Rituals next to Lahar (the fiery Earth elemental) in the outside zone of the Twelve ( to the right of the tower as you head towards the tower over the bridge)


Interact with the altar to open the crafting screen.
and open your inventory screen. (ignore the inventory items in this screen pic.. I hijacked it off google)



put in the following 4 components from your inventory into the altar. (the order does not matter)
~Crafted Heroic Dragonscale armor from Gianthold scalesmith (color does not matter)
~Shard of the Red Dragon (from Von6 Epic chest you were fortunate enough to finally loot)
~Flawless Red Dragon Scales (stack of 20)
~Greater Tokens of the twelve (stack of 20)

Click on the "Forge" icon.
~If you did it right it will say success, items will disappear and armor will go into your inventory.
~If you did it wrong it will say failure and your ingredients will stay in the crafting window.

The type of Armor you use will determine the type of Armor it will become.

If you use a Heroic Dragonscale Docent you will get a Red scale Docent
If you use a Heroic Dragonscale Light armor you will get a Red scale light armor

etc.

Basically don't put in a Docent and expect a Robe or Heavy Plate.

It actually is 20 tokens of the twelve (formerly epic dungeon tokens), not 20 greater tokens of the twelve (formerly epic raid tokens). Just made red dragonhide today. Greater tokens of the twelve didn't work; normal tokens of the twelve did.

Oxford and Cornell I believe are piloting a "Crafting and item upgrading in DDO" course to help people figure out the basics of DDO's token systems. The first session is entitled "Is the thing I just looted worth keeping? A lesson in how to tell which crafting materials you should hang onto and what ones went obsolete 3 years ago."

MIT has a more advanced course for those that want to learn Green Steel crafting.
