Keep in mind that epic mobs get an extra bonus to saves against magic that don't apply to things like assassinate, coup de grace, or everything is nothing.

I forget the exact numbers, but something like +6 to saves when at 100% health, +4 to saves when over ?% health, *mumble* *mumble* I forget the numbers.
