Default Turn off voice for ONE party member?

Is it possible to disable the voice chat for ONE party member? My husband and I play together in the same room, using mic/headset to voice chat with other players. Naturally, it's quite irritating to hear everything we say repeated a moment later through the other's computer, but I'd like to keep voice chat on generally so that we can each hear other party members through our headsets.

So I'd like to disable the voice output from my husband, but keep it enabled for everyone else.

No, unfortunately not. As suitable as DDO's voice chat options are (quite nice considering what I've witnessed in other games), there is no individual chat controls for other players. It would be nice though.

For some reason, I thought SQUELCHING them worked. But I am probably wrong about that.

Or, maybe the OP can try it, just squelch him inside the next quest and see if it works. Then let me know so I can either think my brain cells are still good, or I can drink some more and maybe kill those erroneous brain cells.

What I would do is have the voice chat on so you can hear. Then go to audio in the options menu and uncheck "Hands Free Voice". Next go to Keybind menu to choose a talk button in case you/he has to say something in an emergency (I forget the default I changed it)

Many headset / mic combinations have a mute feature built into them. It allows you to hear everything, but when the mute feature is on no one can hear you. The set I have is "Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000". I think they were 20 buck off of amazon.com. You can do the same thing through the windows interface: playback devices / double click your headset icon / levels / mute microphone. I am using windows 7 professional so the exact sequence may vary for you, but some version of that should do the trick if you don't want to buy a new headset just to mute them. The advantage of doing it on the headset is you can toggle the mute on and off more easily, just in case your husband wants to say something to group.

Anyway, hope that helps. Good luck...my wife would like to mute me too, but that's another story...

/squelch might actually be a good option here, since most of the issues it will cause are mitigated by sitting in the same room as each other in real life. There is a way to set up hotkeys in-game (as opposed to an external app like AutoHotkey) to simplify the squelching command. That would offer a relatively painless "squelch toggle" for each other, where you could toggle it on after you form the party and toggle it off again when you disband.

An alternate real-world solution might be to wear headphones.

i would still pay 5000 TP for volumes for every party/raid member, 10,000 TP if it saved the settings

I still think everybody should make the move to Razer Comms.
Its in beta right now, but the sound quality is awesome and it has voice controls for each person in the chat.
    Unfortunately, that likely won't happen

if you really need this, you could buy 6slot teamspeak server and give ip and pass to party members everytime.
this would probably work only if you play with same group most of time

    Best topic!

This advice made me grin so much, typical gamer advice.

    Just squelch your partner's voice.

Would you like a pillow to cover his head with that?

Not trying to sound like a broken record, but I still think Razer Comms is a better alternative.
    Its free for one thing.
So long as each person involved in the chat has the application downloaded all you have to do is sign up. Then you can invite people to your group chat at will. Still, likely only feasible if you have recurring group members.

How about buying headphones that cancel out outside noises?

I'm not sure what you mean with this. The issue is that when she speaks over voice chat, she hears her own voice repeated back to her a full second later over his speakers because they're both in the same room. Squelching each other is a viable solution. It would not prevent them from hearing each other because they're in the same room. It would just suppress the echo.
