I need help building a class

I just started playing 3 days ago and yesterday I loved this game so much that I paid for 3 months of subscription. The only thing is: I have no idea what I'm doing in this game. Thus, I think that my current build is kinda horrible. I made a pally and she's having trouble soloing anything on Hard or Elite. I would greatly appreciate if someone directed me to somewhere I can read what makes a good build, how to make a build, or help me directly to make a good melee class build.

Please, if you can, dumb it down because like I said I'm very new to this game and don't know what I'm doing lol. Thanks guys :P

first WELCOME to the game!

I hope you tread long and laugh hard in our worlds!

With that said -

• www.ddowiki.com is your best friend!
• Find a guild that is willing to spend time with you.
• Don't worry about dying - we all die down here.... right George?!?!? ;p
• Hirelings (in your case a healer) might be beneficial
• Just have fun and learn....
• don't spend any more money (at least on this first character (toon)) until you are confident in what you are doing.
• look into 'tool kit' theory (having the right tool for the job at hand - so something for oozes, undead, etc)
• Don't try to keep up with the kids who have been around since day 1 and have all the toys - will only get you frustrated
• experiment and try new things...
• Look on the AH (Auction House) to see what is available and things you might want to use.
• CON is never a dump stat (what this means is that is all well and good to be able to hurt monsters, but its better if you can survive them hurting you back)
