I've seen some FVS/Monk staff builds that looked pretty sweet on youtube at least. What kind of builds are those, I think the one I saw was 14 FVS/6 Monk, but it's hard to be sure, and I don't know if you need a particular level of monk now or not.

Youd need 5 levels of monk for the better crit profile with staves, but 6 monk has some nice goodies (extra feat, adept stances, 5% run/walk).
1-2 levels of rogue are advisable, for 15% attack speed with quarterstaves (1 lvl) and lower cooldown on quick strike (2 lvls).
Or you could just turn stuff around and take 5 levels of rogue for better enhancements and only 1-2 levels of monk for stances and feats.
I dont know the fvs version but these 6-8 levels net you full staff melee capability.

Unless you really need lvl 7 spells, I also recommend rog 2 / monk 6 / FvS 12: 32 APs into Henshin for Staff Specialization; 11 APs into Acrobat for Acrobatics (+15% atk speed) and Quick Strike (shorter CD than Henshin version). You also add UMD and possibly trap skills, depending on how much INT you have.
Stat priorities are STR, CHA (Div Might), CON; enough INT for however many skill pts you want; DEX is a dump stat unless you want Dodge or Precision.
Feats in no particular order: THF(m)/ITHF/GTHF; Power Atk(m)/Cleave/GC; IC:Blunt; Master and possibly GM of Forms; Overwhelming Crit. Those marked "(m)" are monk bonus feats.

Thank you guys, ya, it just looks sick and totally movie like monkish. A very fun and seemingly effective build to rip out a favoured soul life in a decent amount of time.
The only level 7 spells that would be decent for this character would be greater restoration and resurrection for helping groups, so, ya, level 7 is not necessary.
Oooh, I am very excited about trying this, I will farm some staves over this week.
Theurgists stave all the way from 8-17, augment vampire slayer and devotion. Maybe chieftains spear 4-7. I think the new bonecrusher at 18 is nice but I dont have one yet since im not a staffie this life.
At 20, stout oak, at 23, sireth. Stout oak is still ok as dr breaker (blunt, anarchic, lawful)

I can only do Sireth if I don't take Pinion out of my Raider's Box, and that's probably my priority, but maybe not, well, I will have to see. My present life cleric is just about done (I mean, I am 20, but it's tough slogging to level beyond heroics), it's my first life, I don't feel like taking 60+ days to do 20 Vales, but I might be able to rip out a few more to maybe build a conop item, and I will have to look, I don't think I have a staff, I just have a rapier and scimitar.
Maybe I will yank Sireth out of the Box, because really, it looks like you can do druid and cleric with this as well.
Thanks for the advice.
Sireth and Pinion are the top choices out of the box, you can replace Sireth with Epic Bonecrusher but then you will have to do with Stout Oak and Heroic Bonecrusher until lvl 26 (which actually isnt too bad).
If you want to go ranged or ranged option one day, Pinion cant be replaced, so you should probably take the Pinion or run the raid until you get one of the two, and get the other out of the box.

I can't figure out the feats. You have to take monk at first level to make this work, and well, if you are taking levels of rogue and don't take it at first level that's a little sucky because you lose so many points.
But ITHF is not a monk feat, annoyingly. Do you have a suggestion there?
For clarity, I will have a cleric past life, +3 tomes on Str and Dex at the moment, and +4 on the rest.

On my HO Acrobat, I think I took Stunning Blow as my lvl 1 feat (human can also take a filler feat, like FoP); Power Atk & THF as my first two monk feats; and Cleave & GC at lvls 3 & 6, respectively. Then it was ITHF (9), IC:Blunt (12), Master of Forms (15), GTHF (18), IIRC. Monk 6 feat is whatever you want: Deflect Arrows, Dodge, Precision, or Imp Sunder would probably be my top picks. Unfortunately, this leaves no room for metamagics until epic lvls, unless you delay some of your DPS feats.
Leveling order is semi-important, as it affects BAB req's on feats: by lvl 6 you need monk 4 / rog 2 to hit BAB 4 for GC; lvl 9 needs BAB 6 (rog 2 / monk 4 / FvS 3); lvl 12 needs BAB 8 (rog 2 / monk 6 / FvS 4); then the rest is FvS. Deviate from my advice at your own risk!

My staff build prefers to run with precision instead of power attack. Crits are a cornerstone of any stick build, making 25% fort bypass much more attractive than +10 damage. The other cornerstone is doublestrike.
Cleaves slow down your fast attack speed (assuming at least 1 rogue level), and they can't doublestrike, so I consider cleaves a fairly low priority on a stick build.
I don't think I'd go with fewer than 2 rogue levels because rogue Quick Strike is head and shoulders better than monk Quick Strike. (12 second cooldown compared to 20 seconds for monk.)

they stack, since they got different names. So you can take all 4 on monk and 2 on rogue for a total +9 damage.
about power attack vs precision: I used power attack on my bladeforged staffy, where its +16 damage. Its also clearly better against no or low fort mobs (you can get 30% fort bypass from ship buffs and black scale, and twist 15% more for undead- or construct-heavy quests) Precision is nice to have, though, especially against undead. It all depends on your free feats, with 6 monk it should be possible to grab it.

The short version: I think your stats are sub-par and you should keep the PA/CL/GC chain; you have the feats to spare, there are synergies with LD and FotW, and sometimes you just really want to wallop a mob.
If I had more APs to spare, I would've invested in Killer (Ninja) for the extra dmg vs helpless mobs. One option: Twist in LD Haste Boost, which lets you drop Acro Haste Boost; if you also free up some APs from Warpriest (drop everything but Div Might), you can invest more in Ninja. EDIT: or alternatively, invest more in WP for Ameliorating Strikes to boost your free healing.Code:Character Plan by DDO Character Planner Version 04.23.01 DDO Character Planner Home Page Level 28 Lawful Neutral Human Female (6 Monk \ 2 Rogue \ 12 Favored Soul \ 8 Epic) Hit Points: 388 Spell Points: 1870 BAB: 14\14\19\24 Fortitude: 17 Reflex: 18 Will: 21 Starting Feat/Enhancement Abilities Base Stats Modified Stats (34 Point) (Level 1) (Level 28) Strength 16 27 Dexterity 10 13 Constitution 14 18 Intelligence 14 18 Wisdom 8 12 Charisma 16 20 Tomes Used +1 Tome of Strength used at level 2 +1 Tome of Dexterity used at level 2 +1 Tome of Constitution used at level 2 +1 Tome of Intelligence used at level 2 +1 Tome of Wisdom used at level 2 +1 Tome of Charisma used at level 2 +2 Tome of Strength used at level 6 +2 Tome of Dexterity used at level 6 +2 Tome of Constitution used at level 6 +2 Tome of Intelligence used at level 6 +2 Tome of Wisdom used at level 6 +2 Tome of Charisma used at level 6 +3 Tome of Strength used at level 10 +3 Tome of Dexterity used at level 10 +3 Tome of Constitution used at level 10 +3 Tome of Intelligence used at level 10 +3 Tome of Wisdom used at level 10 +3 Tome of Charisma used at level 10 +4 Tome of Constitution used at level 14 +4 Tome of Intelligence used at level 14 +4 Tome of Wisdom used at level 14 +4 Tome of Charisma used at level 14 Level 1 (Rogue) Feat: (Selected) Force of Personality Feat: (Past Life) Past Life: Wizard Feat: (Human Bonus) Stunning Blow Level 2 (Monk) Feat: (Monk Bonus) Power Attack Level 3 (Monk) Feat: (Selected) Cleave Feat: (Monk Bonus) Two Handed Fighting Level 4 (Monk) Ability Raise: STR Feat: (Monk Path) Path of Harmonious Balance: Fists of Light Level 5 (Monk) Level 6 (Rogue) Feat: (Selected) Great Cleave Level 7 (Favored Soul) Feat: (Deity) Follower of the Sovereign Host Level 8 (Favored Soul) Ability Raise: STR Level 9 (Favored Soul) Feat: (Selected) Improved Two Handed Fighting Level 10 (Favored Soul) Level 11 (Monk) Level 12 (Monk) Ability Raise: STR Feat: (Selected) Improved Critical: Bludgeoning Weapons Feat: (Monk Bonus) Precision Enhancement: Human - Semi-retired Build Engineer. Everything was better back in our day. Get off my lawn.
War priest gets you perma blur. I can't really think of a better defensive than that, I could go for AM Strike, but well, I am not sure. If I back out except for Divine Might, I can go higher in my Dilly tree and get spells as level 10 Wizard, which means I can easily scroll blur and displacement and whatever else I want, that would still leave me some more points.
Well, as EllisDee said, he doesn't use Cleave as it's a slower attack and can't glance or something, I don't know much about it. If you drop cleave you can fit in a couple of archery feats for some brilliant AOE damage every half minute.
Nevertheless, it should be a really quick build to 20, so I will try your way first, and if I like it as much as I think I will, then I will try Ellis' second.
Thank you for taking the time to look everything over. I just hate dropping Dex when I am in robes, but I suppose with PRR and MRR, AC is secondary anyway.
There is plenty of perma-Blur gear out there, particularly at lvl 20+. Also light monks get Dance of Clouds; it's a nuisance to have to renew it every minute, but there's only a handful of ki atks this build would use: healing ki, DoC, Void Strike, Fists of Iron, Shadow Veil, Aligning the Heavens (-25% SP cost on spells is a big deal on a heavily-MCed caster).
With a rog splash, you ought to be able to max out UMD, rendering wiz dilly moot.I can go higher in my Dilly tree and get spells as level 10 Wizard, which means I can easily scroll blur and displacement and whatever else I want, that would still leave me some more points.
He's right about Cleaves being slower than regular atks on a staff build; however Cleaves now proc glancing blows, the last time I checked. Also Precision doesn't work with Rage effects, so it's a poor choice for FotW; while some of the LD abilities req PA to be enabled and you need Cleave atks to reset Momentum Swing's timer. It's a situational thing; my build has both PA & Precision, so you can switch depending on circumstances.Well, as EllisDee said, he doesn't use Cleave as it's a slower attack and can't glance or something, I don't know much about it.
Exactly what "brilliant" ranged dmg are you expecting? All I see is PBS, Zen Archery, and 10K Stars: no Bow STR, no IC:Ranged, no Prec Shot, no IPS. Or do you mean with shuriken? Again: no Shuriken Expertise, no IC:Thrown, no Prec Shot, no IPS. Doing serious ranged DPS takes a much more significant build effort than just a couple of feats. If you drop cleave you can fit in a couple of archery feats for some brilliant AOE damage every half minute.
AC has long been a losing proposition; my only real concern is the hit to Reflex saves, but +1 or +2 won't make a big difference in the long run. So hit harder and learn to dodge spells.I just hate dropping Dex when I am in robes, but I suppose with PRR and MRR, AC is secondary anyway.

Well, I am a big noob. Thank you so much, probably after I see what the High Lords are doing this weekend on Sarlona, I may just TR my cleric and start running this. Another couple nights of farming Staves and what better time to TR than on a weekend when you can start to level all day!
Edit, well, if you go human, you can take insightful reflexes!

Can't doublestrike. As a staff build, I would expect a bare minimum of 25% doublestrike 10 out of every 12 seconds. My staff build runs with ~50% doublestrike:
25% Quick Strike (10 seconds out of every 12 fighting)
9% Martial epic past lifex3
10% Zeal (he's a paladin)
10% Celestial Champion (he runs in divine crusader, because paladin)
-----
54% "standard"
Celestial Champion isn't always 10% -- it builds up stacks -- and Quick Strike is only active 83% of the time so it's really only around 21%, but roughly 50% is a close enough approximation. Then when I activate Zeal of the Righteous that jumps to roughly 100% doublestrike. So as a general rule, cleaving for my guy is a losing proposition. I do have both paladin cleaves, though, and typically use them once at the start of each fight.
While some of that doublestrike is paladin-only, it's worth pointing out that I don't actually have a doublestrike item, so some of it can be made up for with gear. What it boils down to is that the faster you attack (perma-haste w/rogue +15% speed) and the higher your doublestrike, the less good cleaves are even against groups of mobs.
EDIT: Not really relevant to anything, but in divine crusader sireth becomes 11-20x3 regardless if you're a paladin or not, which is pretty tough to beat. So does a thunderforged falchion, of course, but sireth attacks 15% faster.
I'm wondering how to play this fvs build?
Do you do it in robes? If so, I see a real lack of PRR/MRR which would concern me. DPS looks good, but taking a few hits could be problematic. Once in epics, I see less issues due to better self-healing as well as more places to put in PRR/MRR augments, as well as the benefits epics. My real concern is level 15-20 though.
If you do it in light armor, you lose stances, run speed. Do you lose dps?
