Ritual of Unbinding- a way to pass items to other characters.

So, as we play this game, we tend to acquire a large amount of BTCoE gear. Recently, they introduced a way sell bound BTCoE items to other players(asah). However, if you want to pass your gear to an alt, you're either taking a big risk with a small cost or a small risk with a large cost. Instead, I suggest a new item, called ritual of unbinding. Double click the item to activate, a UI similar to the augment UI pops up. Place the bound item in, click unbind, put it in your shared bank or in the mail. This should be available from a vendor for ~3 shards(I think that's a fair price), as well as a reward from DD or loot drop.

I like the premise of this as long as it is only to YOUR alts. I was thinking the other day that i would love for the next Anniversary event to be 'All BtC items become BtA for 1 week'. I have so many BtC items i wish I had on other toons... It wouldn't be giving me anything I dont already own and I would be super happy. Well doing this and making all epic Shards/Seals trade-able or trade-IN-able like the scrolls...

In the past I would have said no way it would be the end of people passing gear now I say for non-raid gear it might be ok but not for 3 shards maybe 30 and even that seems way to cheap

Raid gear would never be BtcoE.

It would be very nice to have an item that would take a BtCoE thats been Bound and convert it to. BtA/BtCoE.

that way, you could take an item and move it to an alt without going through the ASAH.

We can pretty much already do this for as little as one shard if your quick and lucky enough. I see no reason why it couldnt be a 3-5 shard cost.

By all means, take me thoughts as a grain of salt, for I am not DDO best or most advanced player, but isn't part of the fun getting the BTC items for the characters that need them. Wouldn't a ritual of unbinding make it possible to send things to any player? Nice idea, but it doesn't seem like it's in a final stage of planning.

Yes, part of the fun is getting BTC items for the characters that need them. (My wizard finally got his cloak of invisibility yesterday, I almost did a snoopy dance. Time to start the completionist train, woot!)

This thread and the idea in the OP aren't about BTC loot. It's about BTCoE loot, which is a completely different animal. There is no particularly fun in getting BTCoE loot because any of your alts can farm it up and then mail it to the alt that needs it.

No, it's not. Bound gear is stupid. More and more gear being bound in different ways as time goes by is even more stupid.
