Just imagine all the things we could do if so much DEV time was not spent combating those that exploit repeatedly.

But alas, the majority will have to suffer with some annoying fix to remove the ability of the minority to exploit some feature for personal gain and some misplaced gratification of 'sticking it to the man'.

    Hello All,

Just some quick questions..... Are the majority of these bugs/exploits first discovered on the Lam. Server? As I have been playing DDO for some time now and I am trying to get a sense of what urges someone to come on DDO to exploit in the first place. I'm mean really how do they come to the realization that some of these things can be done in the first place?

That is the last thing on my mind when I log in to DDO, I just find it hard to fathom that one day you/I/or someone comes on and just out of the blue decides they are going to do something out of the normal routine and they magically find these Exploits.

In my mind it would be like one day I jump in my car and drive on my main highway and out of the blue decide I am going to press my break pedal because I had a brain fart thinking if I do this it would make me go faster????? Oo

These potential bugs/exploits must be discovered else ware ( Pointing at the lam server ) to be tried again on the main client, or maybe it is just plain and mindless shuffling through the dark trying stuff that eventually yields a work around, bug/exploite.

Sorry if these questions seem rather senseless, but I don't use the Lam. server and as I said, coming on ddo and just making a flash decision to " Try This To See What Happens.... " just doesn't fall into my logic. There has to be prior knowledge!

    Cheers! W.W.

believe it or not but from my understanding there are people who
dont play the games but do look for exploits as a fun thing to do.

to me it seems kinda of wierd to spend time looking for a way to
break something but if it floats there boat so to speak so be it.

Agreed the second you assassinate the whole room knows where you are. It really sucks when trying to solo stuff.

I think the patch will properly lock out the SWF and TWF feats on Druid, so that animal forms can't exploit bonuses from both lines. :/

The people who exploit, really dont have any effect on my enjoyment of the game......... what anyone sports around in their backpack is about as important to me as what obama had for lunch.

........but glitching at the bottom of a ladder does. It directly effects my enjoyment of the game. Lagging in a quest and hearing everyone with a mic saying something about it at the same time does effect my game. BUT Some guy wearing red armor he didnt farm for......means ZERO to my game enjoyment.

Dont get me wrong, I am not against them closing the exploits when they find them.... that is a sign of good quality assurance. But every glitch, error ect. should me considered just as important.
There shouldnt be years old glitches.......its just not right

    Default Thanks Turbine

A big thank you to Turbine and the people working hard over the weekend, I for one really appreciate you all getting a patch up for bugs so quickly. You are a great team and I am sure you are well on the way to taming the bugs.

Would be nice if we could know, before the update, if the stones are going to vanish from our inventories. Rather eat it than lose it.

Well unless being very lucky the guy surely farmed the shard a bit.

I really do look forward the day the main a**holes from the Forum-That-Must-Not-Be-Named are crying all over that place there. This will be the day I will call some buddies and tell them "you may come back, lookholes closed".

Personally, I fear, again it will get harder for "normal" players to play the game (more lag, less convenience with bags, banks, inventory) and at the same time those *censored for tone*s will find new ways to do their shenanigans.

Good luck Cordo, and hoepfully it will take less time than five hours this time. Hope dies last.

So you're saying Ocean stance is giving 40 Wisdom, 40% AC, 50 to Saves and 10 passive Ki generation?

You'd think more people would be talking about that.

I don't care what others do as long as they play the game with at least a competant level of skill. I don't know about all these bugs and shenanigans people are mentioning, but I hope they fix idiot Hireling AI's, Owlbear's that stop doing anything, glitching on ladders, falling through bridges, etc. At the very least, patch notes would be nice.

Due to essentially bad timing on my part, I'm going to be on an airplane during tomorrow morning's downtime, so I'm posting up the release notes now. The following changes will be in-game when the servers re-open to the public tomorrow. Click here to check them out.

Saying 'Earth Stance has always been' is like saying 'spellsinger has always been'. Up to a point, there wasn't any Spellsinger at all.

You're right, it wasn't really a necessary- or at the very least, poorly phrased- addition to the point I was trying to make.

You at least offer a rationale for displeasure with Earth Stance in the modern game here, whereas the other post simply seemed to want to gripe about the nature of defensive stances. :P

The experience awarded when completing a Saga is once again automatically consumed.
Saga xp rewards which were acquired pre-update are now automatically consumed too?

I am not sure if I got this right:
Is the downtime till tomorrow? DT notice suggests they'll be up again today. So it is 6.00 AM on Aug 4th to 11.00 AM Aug 5th?
