Default THF Human Paladin build for after I TR! ADVICE NEEDED

I am finally getting close to 20 on my barbarian, and I plan on reincarnating into a THF human paladin. I'm not really sure about starting stats or feat choices/order.

    Lets go from the begining:

What do you plan to get from going pure? are you a purist/roleplayer? 2 monk would give you 2 feats + evasion (need stat investiment to get a decent reflex, if you dont have monk rogue could work), 2 fighter give you 2 feats + tower shield prof. you could play with some ranger levels and get tempest for free, some 2wf feats + manyshot.

For the faith feat, follower i¿of the silver flame is really bad. +1 to damage with bows, you should be using them only to hit levers with this build, the sovereign host gives you a 10k healing that recharges itself every 10 min, that could be a somewhat usefull healing option.

If you really want to go pure change a bit the feats, thoughness is a bad option, ~23 hp at lvl 20 is meh, same for weapon focus, why do you want it?

a good feat list (imo) would be
    1 Power attack
    1h Cleave
    3 Two handed fighting
    6 Great Cleave
    9 Improved critical
12/15/18 Empower healing/ Quicken/ the next two handed fighting feats (you chose wich one and when to take any of this options)

With this you get some AoE dps ( in heroics few things are better than running to a pack of mobs and cleaving them, if you can survive the aggro ofc)

If you plan to play in epics the cleave/ G cleave also opens the option to get overwhelming critical at 21. and empower healing gives a boost to cocoon if you can get it.

About the skills, heal is not a bad option but that would give you a neat 23 healing spel power at 20. you can get a heal ruby from gianthold trader/ auction house a ml 12 gives you 66 healing spel power (+ the implement), a ml 20 gives you 90.

Intimidate has its use and is always nice to have a social skill for optionals in certain quests.

Balance could be a good option if you want to change heal. A toon lying in his back is not kiling mobs.

Speaking for me, i really cant live without umd, even as a cross class skill the ability to use invisibility scrolls saves me a lot of trouble in some quests. At mid/ high lvls having the option to use fire shield/ teleport/ protection from elements/ greater heroism and other buffs is awesome, sometimes you cant get a arcane in your party to buff you.

    Default Monk levels

How would the monk levels work? I know they need to be centered to do most monk things, and with THF I would need to be using a qstaff to stay centered. And is evasion really going to help me? If I'm not mistaken, evasion only works in light armor. Wouldn't that drop my AC a lot?
Thanks for the help! I have plenty of time to figure out a build before I TR, (I'm still level 19, and I am trying to make some gear first) .

You'd probably ignore the centered parts of monk on a mostly paladin build. You'd take it for the evasion and for the bonus feats.

You would have to wear light armor but the massive increase in dodge cap and being able to ignore a lot of spell damage is going to more than make up for any loss in AC.

    Default A build for this

Okay that sounds good, but I have no Idea how to build a character like that. 18pal/2monk. What I would really want to know is when to take the monk levels and what my starting stats would be, but a full build would be useful.

Last time i did a 18/2 i took the monk levels at 1 and 8 ( to get ghost touch asap) you could take them at any time and fit the two handed feats with that.

Forget about being centered, just use any good weapon you have and wear a ligt armor (or robe if you find a nice one) to benefit from evasion

    it was something like

    1 Power attack
    1m cleave
    1h two handed f.
3 i took the pasage mark, free ddoor is awesome (i solo a lot and that makes thing easier)
    6 G cleave
8m cant remember if i took imp critical or the next 2 handed feat
9 imp crit or next 2h feat
    12 Emp Heal
    15 Quicken
18 stuning blow (with enough cha and some investiment in items you can get a nice dc). if you feel that it dont land often enough it change for Precision (you cant use it at same time as PA but 25% fortification to enemy is awesome at raids/epics).

*I consider that the last 2handed feat is not worth taking, or at least is less dps than other options so i go with stuning or precision ( you could even get both if you dont take the pasage mark)

    stats would be something like

    str 15
    dex 12
    con 14
    int 10
    wis 9
    cha 15

if you have leftovers buff dex a bit

*with 9 wis and your tomes you can cast 1st lvl spells by lvl 4 using a wis item
10 int is for extra points (in order of importance i get umd, balance, 10 points in jump and 2 points in tumble).

get the best +stat items that you can wear (specially con for hp dex and cha for saves), get a +5 reflex item asap and chug heroism pots, that should give you a good reflex.

Use divine might all the time that should put you in the str lvls of a barb and get exalted smite ( +2 crit range and +2 multiplier is awesome, if you get a sos you win heroics)

Get the defensive stance from defender tree, even without a shield you can benefit from the extra prr and saves ( im at 41prr-20% dmge reduction with only a light amor and +8ppp augment at level 12)
For tier 5 enhancements the immunity to energy drain is the best option, nothing else remarcable

My current build if you're interested. It's a dwarf but human could probably switch some feats around and grab extend or whatever else you want.

    15pal/3monk/2fighter

    1-4 Pally
    5-6 fighter
    7-8 monk
    9-19 pally
    20 monk

    1-Power Attack
    3-Cleave
    5F-Great Cleave
    6-THF
    6F-ITHF
    7M-Dodge
    8M-Toughness
    9-Imp Crit
    12-GTHF
    15-Empower Heal
    18-Quicken
    20M-Light
    21-Overwhelming Crit
    24-Epic Toughness
    26-Perfect THF
    27-Blinding Speed
    28-Perfect TWF or Elusive Target

For starting stats just make sure you can hit epic toughness and overwhelming crit by the levels you take them and put the rest into cha/dex for saves.

    Default Why?

Now I'm thinking, if my goal is to smash things with THF, then why am I playing around with this paladin/monk stuff? I understand they have great versatility and they are a lot more self-sufficient, but the stat spread is so intense that I think I could be better off with a half orc fighter, then TR with that for 36 point build and do this stuff.
    *EDIT*
If I leveled as a fighter, then I would have that much more time to accumulate gear and money for pots+scrolls. With gear and 36 point build, I think this paladin/monk idea would work out a lot better

That is a good why of thinking, pally with evasion is mostly for self sufficience and survival, but if you capped a barb you can cap a fighter :P

Id really recomend you to go human insted of horc, extra feat ( meh on a fighter), up to 3 tiers of heal amp and maybe greater heroism as a SLA (if you have the poits for it) with that, FoM and DW you are basicaly immune to most Fort and Will spells. And a dragonmark ( heck, the deneith mark is great to avoid damage) >>>> extra bit of dps... But hey! thats the way i like.

The good thing is that you are planning ahead.

*Edit. Maybe im wrong but extra 80 hp (30 from toughnes + 50 from Epic toughness) seems a poor choice for 2 feats and the investiment needed to get 21 con when you can hit ~700-900 hp in a melee runing on Dread or Fury again, thats just my opinion.

First off, have a look at my Knight of the Holy Stick and Sacred Defender threads, as well as EllisDee37's Evasion Paladin.

Second, what exactly are your goals for this build: pally PL? DPS? Self-healing? Are you TRing again as soon as you hit 20, or do you want an epic-viable build?

That, my friend, is a 4 ranger splash that doesn't get manyshot(the whole point of the Pyrene ranger levels) and a 2 rogue splash that can't trap. I'd highly advise against it.

If you're looking for a nothing but paladin TWF build with rogue levels, then try something like this, giving you basically the same feats you wanted in your build, but trims down on the stuff you don't need.

Some skill point/level order shuffling could easily get you more points in intim/diplo/conc or something else, but here you wind up keeping the highest possible trapping skill at all levels, at least.

If you have monk and you just want a THF melee build, then something like Cetus is still your best bet; although without Bladeforged you lose one of Cetus's best aspects, the Reconstruct SLA.

    Default From Cetus

"Note: This build is designed for advanced players who desire effectiveness in epic elite content. It is also centered around +5 tomes for the purposes of meeting stat requirements."
I do not want any of these things

Even w/out Reconstruct SLA, a Cetus-style build has several things going for it over pure ftr: Evasion, Div Grace, Shadow Form, Div Might, Earth stance for PRR & +1 crit multiplier. And it's not hard to adjust Cetus to a build with more modest tomes than +5s across the board.

Again, it's still not clear to me what your build goals are. You started out with a pure paladin, then discussed monk / pallies, now you're looking at pure ftrs. Are you just looking for a build to hit things?

    Default pretty much

I liked the idea of paladin THF for some self healing, but then Pal/Monk was recommended, so I decided I should do that. I would rather gather gear for another life first though, and playing a life as fighter sounds like a fairly simple way to gain some more experience with the game (I already did barb, and they are similar playstyles)
*edit* I will probably end up tweaking that Cetus build to be more usable. If I do, what race would work best? I have all but half-elf.

Human seems good. Horc isn't the worst idea, but I only say that because they get 3 extra action boosts and I'm a complete Boost hoe.
Nightmanis De'Corenai 20 Rogue Mechanic or Assassin. Depending on how I feel during the etr.
    Sereine De'Corenai Paladin. Because ETR.

    Default Cetus

    About that Cetus build.
I'm not so sure about the amount of ranged feats. Would all of those be worth taking if I don't have any tomes and I don't care about endgame because I would only be using it to TR as fast as possible?

You might take a look at the Kensei Warpriest linked in my signature. It's a THF that hits things and gets good self-healing early; much earlier than paladin. It's not really designed for endgame, but rather heroic play with some EH epic action plus raids.

No evasion, and the saves are pretty poor, but it does quite well in heroics and is functional in EH epics. It's particularly nice once it gets deathward and freedom of movement, but even early on getting nightshield is a huge help in certain quests. (Proof is in the Poison and VON4 immediately come to mind.)
