Default Let's give an option to Icons to start at level 1

    The problem:
Iconics start at level 15, but some of us prefer running the lower level content with them.

    Proposed solution:
-Give Iconics a free heroic XP stone to bump us up by 1 million on 1st lifers, 1.5 on 2nd lifers, and 2 million on 3rd lifers. IF used during epic levels, this stone provides a flat 4 million xp (so if iconics want to run straight to level 20 by themselves, they can eat through some epic xp as well).
-The stone is btc and could be kept for later use on a later life.

    Benefits:
-Iconics can run whatever content they want with the knowledge that they can use the Stone at whatever point in their life they want to.
-Korthos/low level area (where new players are) have a greater player base to run with. New players who ask things like "hey, what race are you?" would get details about buying more Turbine Products.

In case you didn't know: You can already start your iconic at any level you want from 1-15. In the dialog (this is just from memory) you first say you wish to begin your training -- this grants you enough XP for level 15. Then you say you don't need any more training, and exit through the door to Wheloon. You're a level 1 toon with enough XP banked for level 15. You can now, at your leisure, visit trainers at any time and level up as far as you like. Whenever you do eventually choose to take level 15, you are granted al of your iconic starter gear.

Your suggestion makes iconics better than they were intended, by allowing the player to choose what level range to skip. I suspect most players would choose to skip 4 million xp in epic levels rather than 2 million xp in heroic, except players that enjoy the epic quests MUCH more than the heroic quests. Consider: 4 million epic xp (plus bonuses, like other xp stones??) also goes towards EDs and sphere karma. So you could max out all EDs and eventually get epic completionist without spending time in an off-destiny. Is that your real motivation?

I was told this didn't work. Are you sure? Or is it you can train when you want, but can't earn xp till you are 14 like I was told.

You do not gain XP until you are lvl 14, I have tried this.

There are 2 ways you can gain xp before hitting level 14.

The daily dice rolls gems can be used and apply on top of what you have.

Finishing off the different parts of your Monster Manual will provide you with bits and pieces of xp as well.

However this is really just a smattering of points gained compared to actually getting quest xp.

Currently doing a couple of favor scrapes using Iconics from level 1.
After a little Tolkien I am usually up for anything.

something interesting that might appeal to some is how about if you start your iconic and instead of taking the level 1 they tell you to you can pick your own but if you do so you must then xp starting at level 1 rather then having the free ride to 15?
you can still lr +1 if you choose the free xp but this would give an option to those that do not wish to spend tp in order to start as any class.
it would give incentive to still buy the lr+1 which would make turbine happy
it would give options to do it for free which would make other players happy
and lets face it level 1-15 isn't exactly difficult.

Yes this works. I have done this several times now to roll a player at a particular level into a static group.

You just hold off leveling until the rest of the group levels.

I assumed this was how it worked from when I heard of the new Iconics until it came out lacking the feature. Not allowing it was obviously a way to make more money. It worked, I just finished leveling a Pure Sun-Elf Palemaster. I would have enjoyed starting from level one as a wizard much more, but leveling with no XP etc. is just not very fun. Progression is part of RPG games.

Then again perhaps it was just a lack of planning or they couldn't figure out how to start Level 1 iconics (which are supposed to be for new players) on Korthos Island (when they are from forgotten realms).

Indeed, and what's more have them start without any levels in a class so that my Morninglord can be a wizard without any cleric levels.

Also, I would like to see a level 1 area in Forgotten Realms for starting characters with more low level quests to go do, sounds like fun.

    Default Hrmmmm

Hrmmmmmm.... I see your point. However...

Iconic characters already get enough XP to auto level to 15 regardless of life, get some pretty decent first lifer gear, and have some really helpful enhancements that other classes may not take advantage of. The way I see it, you already get a ton of really good stuff; not to re-mention the fact that you get to skip 15 flipping levels.

And now you want even more?

The idea is interesting but... I think they are a large enough convenience as is?

Or Turbine could do Veteran Status III and allow characters to start at level 15 with any class (except for Iconics).
