Anyone on Lamannia try out one of these boxes to make sure they work with xp-boosts. Given that their other new box did not I'm a bit skeptical but if it does the boxes are really nice and I don't have to hurry up to use my 1 existing box before this change goes live. If this is true it's the one good thing I've seen with regards to existing game mechanics not getting nerfed recently. I'd be happy with my existing box if they don't change it (I traded for it after all ) and I'd be happy with the upgraded one if they truly do stack with xp boosts.

I'm getting 3,400,000 with 1.7 (170%) x 2,000,000. 400K to cap from level one if you are maxing out the bonuses no? Again, assuming it is a flat 2,000,000 rate before bonuses as advertised.

Which, assuming this is the case, is pretty good way to cap on a 3+ lifer imo.

Just to check, I swapped a Box to a character on Live and then transferred him to Lam...

Box is now listed as "Old Otto's Irresistible Box". Items inside are exactly as they are on live, notably the stone is ML8, Bound to whoever opened the box, gives XP to level 16. So... all of you who recently bought the "old" boxes.... sorry.

That's completely reasonable and acceptable. I bought the old box - as long as it functions as promised at purchase I'm a happy camper. It would only be if the new boxes were worse AND they converted my old box to the new one that I'd be upset. If I get what I paid to get? That would be a welcome change from Turbine.

Wasnt that long ago I made a post about past lives soon being on sale in the store. Now its not only past lives, its completionist, ~700 bucks. 14 TRs @ ~50 dollars each. 13 for each class, then the final build. Only have to farm vale quests on each life for an hour or two.

Notice, I didn't complain or whine... I got my box a few iterations back and still haven't used it. I'm fine with it staying the "original" type and am not upset that I didn't get the "new" version. With that being said, I think it's only human nature that if I purchased a box today without knowing that there was such a substantially better product "just down the road" I'd be a little bitter when the "new" one was released. It may not be right, but it is absolutely human nature. I just hope that no one at Turbine turns on the "Box Switch" before U20 comes out...

LOLz . . . you can't buy skill. Can't wait to see these insta-completionists puggin in end-game.

That is of course after DDO gets an end-game again.

Seriously though, thinking about paying $150 buck for pally-PLs on a new melee . . . that might be worth it.

There is no way that is worth the money. 2 million xp can be gotten in epic very quickly and easily.

Rusted Blades x2
Don't Drink the Water x2
Trial By Fire x2
VON3 x2

can be soloed on epic normal in ~2 hours depending on player and build, and is around 450,000 xp with a 30% pot. You can do that daily. If you don't have a pot or have a bit more time, Cabal For One and Wizard King are also easy solos that can net you a couple hundred thousand more.

So even the most lazy and casual player can get 2 million xp on epics in 4-5 days with a minimum level of involvement barely above logging in. So somebody hard core or with a good steady group can do it in one day.

yeah I don't see the "most lazy casual players" getting this much XP in 2 hours or we would not see anyone complain about leveling off destinies

I am glad that Turbine is giving us more opportunities to give them our money in exchange for not playing the game.

Once I had thought that playing the game was fun, but now I correctly understand that I'm only supposed to want to be higher level and more powerful and that I shouldn't want to play through those levels to get to that point. This is a great opportunity for Turbine and for the not-playing DDO community and I look forward to more opportunities to not play DDO.

They don't. I have three stones currently that I cannot use at all. GMs will do nothing with them. At least two of those stones are from boxes I purchased and opened. I opened them with a different character than I'm trying to use them on, but when I purchased them that was perfectly acceptable and GMs were helping anyone that had a problem with them. They changed them after I bought them to say they must be used by the character that opened them. I don't know which of my characters even opened my boxes, or if I even still have that character. I wouldn't want to TR him 3 times with stones anyhow.

So just to be clear, even if you buy the new boxes, Turbine can change them at any time to be linked to the character that opened the boxes on you at make it retroactive to all the stones in game. They did exactly that to me with the old otto's boxes.
