With Turbine kaputz, maybe SSG would be willing to work out a way to bring the Planner in-game ...
I know, it's a dream. But it ain't hurtin' no one to dream it.

I have just download the version 4.31.203 of the planner and have tried to set up a few builds.
Are there any instructions or videos on the proper use and setup for the planner

We have a new update. Included in the update are the in game changes up to U34. I hope I got them all. If not please leave a note.
Currently www.rjcyberware.com will be going down some time this month. We have created a GitHub account and you will be able to find the program releases there (link). I have also added a link to the latest release to my webpage at adarddo.2kool4u.net/.
As for the stability issues that the program has been having I think I may have found a solution and fixed it, I hope. At least I was able to do a full build today without the program crashing on me ( that is a first in a long time).
In the near future I plan to do a how to do a build with the program to help out an of the new users and help explain some of the new features that I have put in. I still have a couple of things I still need to finish up to get the full overview build approach fully fleshed out. Things that I see that are needed are a spells page and attribute page.
If you have any additional ideas let me know. Not sure when they will get done, but I will see if they make sense to add into this version of the program.
Till then I will see you all in game.

I am sorry for the long delay in getting you an answer, but currently we do not have an instructions or a videos. I will be looking into doing something for this in the future. Please download the new version as I think it is a lot more stable then 4.31.203.
If you are still having issues with the use of the program send me a PM and I can see if I can give you any tips on questions you have.

I think you should keep the name "Ron's Character Planner." It's how it's known to the community, and even though Ron hasn't worked on the code in a while, the program is still very much Ron's vision.
For example, if I stopped playing 5 years ago and then returned to the game today and looked for and downloaded Ron's character planner, I would feel right at home with it as being the planner I remembered.
Thank you for your input. I have not come to this decision on my own. It was Ron's suggestion to no longer call the program Ron's Character Planner. I have only started to adopt the name that the program has been for some time in the design house. If you look at the program exe it is DDOCharGen. This is not a name that I game it, but the name it was the day I started to program it. Currently the title bar for the program is called DDO Character Planner, but I do agree that a lot of people refer to it as Ron's Character Planner. I by no means wish to remove Ron from the program I am only trying to establish a consistent name that does not require modification of the entire build. I will be updating the current about page in a future update to give Ron full created for the original creation of the program.
This does not have to be the end of the name debate, it just give you a little insight to why I did this.

Ok, I have looked through a lot of old forums, both here and on Ron's boards. It appears that even though the program has the exe of DDOCharGen. It has been know as Character Planner for a very long time. It appears from one old thread that I read that the name of Character Generator gave the impression that the program would generate a random character for you. With that in mind, I will take steps in the future to always reference the program as DDO Character Planner. I am not sure how much work it will be to change the exe to match, but I will look into it.

Today brings the end of an era. RJCyberware web site has closed. We thank Ron for all of his support over the years on this site and his wonderful program DDO Character Planner. This by no means is the end of the DDO Character Planner it has found a new home on GitHub (here) . The program code is now more open for people to see and maybe help to spark an interest in helping to continue the programming on it. Ron still plans to be involved when he has time, but we all know how life is.
I have taken this opportunity to fully change the name of the program to provide continuity with the program and I have updated the About to reflect current changes to the game ( ie Standing Stone Game). This program will always be Ron's Character Planner as he was the creator, but as it has been called on the title bar for a long time I have adopted DDOCharPlanner for the Exe and Zip files. This removes the old Generator name that was once there.
Here is a direct link to the release page for version 4. The new version 4.34.101 can be found there.
Till we meet in game, happy gaming.

Thanks for your work, Tom. It is appreciated.
P.S. As you are now doing the work, you can call the program whatever you want as far as I am concerned.

Yes, RJCyberware went down today, actually a couple days later than I thought it would. For the first time in nearly 20 years, I don't own a web site I never did like that name anyway. It came from the person who was meant to be my business partner (it was his one contribution, he flaked on me pretty much immediately, hehe).
Anyway, many thanks to Tom, who has taken the reins. As he said, I will poke my head in now and again, but I feel like the planner is in good hands, and my participation in this game is waning (limited now to just my video series). That could change in the future, who knows, but for now my energies lie elsewhere. And lay off about the name change guys. It was my suggestion to change it in the first place (I don't know that it was EVER officially called Ron's Character Planner anyway, but if it was, it's increasingly a misnomer, as less and less of it is my code ). I think harmonizing the names of the exe, title bar, etc, is a good move.
BTW Tom, sorry about being slow on the transfer, I've been sick with this nasty headcold and my brain hasn't been all there for the last week, hehe. I think it's all good now, but let me know if you need anything else from me. But you have ownership in the group, so I think you can do anything I could, right?
Anyway, I'll be around, at least on this board, usually lurking And I'll still be playing, at least until my solo character hits a brick wall.
The locus of my identity is totally exterior to me.

No problem. You were just getting me a little worried that something happened to you. Hope you feel better soon. I do think the move to GitHub will be a good move for the program in the long run and the move over to a organization gives the ability to include other projects into the fold as the develop that work hand in hand with the planner. I have been considering a gear planner that would export out the stats of an outfit to be added into the character planner or the gear planner could get the stats from the character planner. If it was done this way I could see having setting a gear set for different levels or importing the stats from a set level. That is a long time out for me thou still have things to finish up in the current planner.
For those of you out there that were having multiple crashes while working on a build, I have to apologize that it took me so long to resolve the issue. The good news is that I have since build 3 or 4 builds with the current version and have not had the crashing issues. Lets just call it a beginners mistake that was causing the issues(memory leak).

I have downloaded the newest version from the GitHub. I found a build that I like and I copied the CODE block generated from version 4.23.01 of DDOCP. I pasted the CODE block into Notepad++ and saved it with a .txt extension. I am trying to Load the .txt document in and it does not appear to be working. I don't see and processing prompts or status bars...but the DDOCP never changes from the default Level 1 Human Fighter that it opens up with.
Am I missing something in the Loading process??
Thanks for taking on this great app!

I have taken the time to create a load file for this build for you. It is based on having 2 past lives Bard and Paladin. Ranger14-Monk6 Archer.txt

The Build you referenced had 2 past lives which allowed for a higher amount of points to be spend on the abilities. If you load the build up you can remove the past lives and see what changes you will have to make. Good Luck.

Firstly, Tom thanks a bunch for picking up the work on the planner. I think the development post-Ron has held been both well done and has maintained continuity with the early work, while advancing it's development.
I have noticed a bug however. When 3 points are spent in the Tempest tree's Improved Reaction it causes the planner to crash. It does not seem to crash before the 3rd point is allocated and it crashes immediately upon accepting the point allocations, but not until then. You may know about this. It has been there for a bit. I should have come in and mentioned it before, but /shrug.
Thanks for you time.
Thank for the bug report I was not aware of the issue. I believe it should be an issue with the enhanment data, should be an easy fix.
I will take care of it for the next build, which will be soon as I just finished the ability widow. Now we are only missing a spell window. Look for the update this weekend I hope.
