    Default Thaw the Code!!!!!

You guys hit code freeze too early.

    • Still no way to see higher rank tooltips in enhancement trees. One of the stated design goals was to make character planning easier. There is now no means to "Show Unavailable".
    • Arcane Fluidity in the drow/elf trees still does not effect ASF.
    • Bard Inspire Recklessness does not add to Doubleshot% and still gives -10% fort.
    • You have no way of seeing Doubleshot% chance.
    • You have no way of seeing Universal Spellpower. It is more "confusing" to omit information than find a way to present it.
    • Wand Heightening is still a prereq for Wand and Scroll mastery in the Spellsinger tree. NO. ONE. USES. OFFENSIVE. WANDS! DC Casters already complain about being off the die against your new highly inflated saves. WANDS SCALE EVEN WORSE THAN DC CASTERS. THEY DON'T SCALE AT ALL.
    • Spellsinger's Flicker still exists.
    • Vargouille said in a Dev Event that the Spellcraft/Heal skill changes are meant to be "something extra you can build towards".
      • If that's true then Bards, Rangers, and Pallies need more devotion in their skill trees.THERE MUST BE 80 DEVOTION IN THE ENHANCEMENT TREE OR IT'S A NERF. 36 devotion in warchanter can not be made up by 44 USP from Spellsinger and remain a Warchanter.
      • If that's not true and these skills are factored into the balance of each class, Bards' devotion is too low. Heal is not a class skill for bards, they have no need of Wis. It is punitive to different classes that can self heal to require these taxing skills.
    • SLAs still can not be aimed. Although this is true on Live atm. Take a level 12 Sorc, go into mouselook, Jump, and cast a SLA Fireball at the ground in front of you. Watch it travel off into the distance and not hit the ground. Same is true for Arti's new SLAs.
    • Druid Shifting Rake is... well... dumb. Druid's don't get bluff as a class skill, and incur penalties to charisma in animal form. Enhancing the useless to be just "nearly useless" isn't really good.

ProducerRowan, you said you had the authority to pull the plug if need be. Turbine has taken a year on this enhancement pass. Please postpone another month and have it done right. We were told in the past that this enhancement pass is critical, and would not be released until polished.

Please, take the time and get it right.

I second this. But I am afraid that they just said this to appease us at the time. I should have realized it then, but I won't be fooled again.

*edit* I do wonder tho, it by some grace of god we get a response to this is they consider the EP "polished". They might think it is. :/

    I agree.

If we waited for DDO to have a bug free product we'd still be on mod 9.

Release the Kraken! just fix the bugs later.

Hey now, Turbine wouldn't do that! I mean, it's not like after the information about MotU came out, and they strung people along with promises about how "all of this is open to change" and "these systems are not set in stone yet, we are just evaluating them". And stuck by that line, until enough time had passed that those, like myself, who had preordered blindly were no longer able to force a creditcard chargeback.

At least this time I had the experience in dealing with Turbine to just not buy it at all.

there was a lot of good stuff in the MOTU pre-order package to pass up. that was the draw for a lot of us, plus the EDs that were tied to the package. this time around, I did not pre-order because I wont buy something blindly without sampling it first and the package wasn't enough to cave in and buy. last night, with some downtime, I started thinking about open beta, intentionally selling Ottos when it was admitted to be not WAI with xp boosts and that, even after again trying today, I cant do character copy to get into Lam. those 3 things alone convinced me to not buy at all, if ever. I don't think its right to lock out players from Lama, unless you pre-pay Shadowfell, with parts of the game changing that affects every single player regardless if you will ever own the expansion. this is aimed mainly at enhancements and to a lesser, but still important, secret doors. they say they want player feedback, but for some reason only people who purchase Shadowfell can provide this feedback, even if they created their first character to play DDO the same day they purchase the expansion. locking me out of Shadowfell quests so I could do my own personal testing would have gone a long ways for me and my decision weather or not to buy wouldn't have been a definite no.

Yes, we do need it, and yes, there's lots hidden.

As it is now, you have no idea what Tier 3 of an enhancement does until after you've picked Tier 2. Which is useless when you're trying to decide whether you should even bother with Tier 1 or not.

Roll a new bard. Find what gives you Magical Training. (It's given by rank 3 of a tier 1 ability. You wouldn't know that without buying rank 2.)

So all these abilities in Tier 5 that you can read the Rank 1 abilities of. Tell me what scales in ranks 2. Duration? Cooldown? Power?

What abilities give additional effects with higher ranks, like the Bard Magical Training example above? Can't find that out without buying them. Which you can't do without qualifying them.

    Qualify -> Purchase -> Plan is bass-ackwards.

No, you can't. The devs recognized this and listed it as one of their design goals, and yet nothing has changed.

For example, roll up a brand new ranger. Open the Arcane Archer tree. Now, without spending any points at all, tell me what rank 3 of the tier 1 "get more spell points" enhancement does for you. (Hint: It gives you the Magical Training feat.) That's the point. Multiple enhancements give a special, brand new ability on rank 3. Rank 3 cannot be seen until after you take rank 1.

This makes it an incredibly cumbersome PITA to try and plan out a full build because the very first question you want to answer is "What tier 5 abilities do I want?" Well, identifying all the tier 5 rank 3 abilities is not physically possible in the new system unless you actually have a level 12+ character with at least 5 levels in that class already so you can spend the points in the various tier 5 enhancements in order to peak at the 3rd rank of each.

Under the current system on live we can see every possible enhancement the moment we take 1 level in each class. Needing 5 levels per class (plus a minimum of 12 character levels) just to properly plan is a pretty hard fail.

Doesn't really matter, though. Wiki will always be superior.

    Fix the bugs please.

I still ladder hitch, so why push it and fix it later. Fix them, then push it.

Also, post a complete listing of the enhancements so we can read them since you cannot do so in game. Thanks.

Release now with bug fixes later is the best way to do it. More bugs can be caught and reported on live than on Lam.

Of course, this means that bug fixes have to actually occur on live. I think we're over a year into MotU now and still some bugs persist so I'd guess that a year from now (when some other massive game system change comes into effect) we'll have 98% of MotU bugs fixed (2 years later) and about 90% of Shadowfell bugs fixed while introducing a bunch more to the pile because of the insistence of adding new bug filled systems.

I don't blame the dev team for this. New systems will have new bugs to deal with, but there is the option of not adding new systems (which reduces new systems related bugs to 0) or devoting more time between systems to iron out the old bugs before introducing new ones.

You can preview higher tiers by going through the motions of selecting it and then right-clicking on the enhancement to deselect it. Maybe not ideal, but it's what I did to document them.

Again, it's maybe not a perfect solution, but the enhancement PDF should let you see any higher tier enhancements that aren't just a repeat of the tier 1 version. Link is in my sig.

That's impossible to do at Level 1 when planning out your character. Ya just can't buy Tier 5 enhancements before level 12. Yes this system is easier to explore than the constantly refreshing dialog we have now. It is worse to plan with.

And citing the PDF as a workaround/solution is a wash, as we currently have the wiki that presents the current enhancement system in a much better format. A new system that still requires external documentation fails at the design goal of being intuitive and aiding in planning.

That would be the best way to do it, however this is Turbine. They've already told us their roadmap for the next year (U20 Epic TR, U21 Forgotten Realms adventure Pack). They'll address a few of the major bugs and then move on to the next project. Given the example of all the previous Enhancement Systems, they'll never finish this one and then maybe in 3 or 4 years they'll just start from scratch again on another system not to finish.

And I don't blame the Dev Team on this one either. It's completely management's decision to go from deadline to deadline instead of project to project.
