Default How and when do you gear your TR's?

I'm going to TR for the first time shortly, and I'm curious about how people gear them? Do you do a new weapon every level? New trinkets every 4-5 levels? What are the intervals of gearing up that you use most often? Any super important items that make you do a full regear at that level?

    I'm thinking something like:
Level 1: +2 stat items, +1 armor, acid weapon
    Level 5: +3 stat items, +3 armor, Acid/pure good or acid/lacerating
    Level 10: Gianthold armor
    Level 11: +6 stat items
Level 12: Greensteel and a lot of other named items
Level 20: Epic gear, starting with eveningstar commendations

My first TR life is going to be paladin, I think. But I might wait for the enhancement pass.

I have a bunch of weapons that get incrementally better up until level 12, when I swap to Greensteel.

At level 5 I put on the Corsair's set from Three Barrel Cove. I used to put on the Abashai set from the Chronoscope at level 5, but I like this one better.

At level seven I use the sets from the Red Fens, most of which come off when I get my Greensteel items at level 11. At level seven I also put on a Greater False Life item.

At level 8 my heavy armor characters put on either the Scavenged Warplate from Sorrowdusk (with Heavy Fort in the blue slot and +3 to some nonessential stat in the colorless slot) or the Nightforged plate from Relic of a Sovereign Past (with Heavy Fort and +3 to some nonessential stat.) My non-heavy armored characters get crafted armor at level 7 that has Heavy Fort on it.

At level 9 I put on gear that gives +6 to my stats, or at least the stats I really need. I don't bother using too many stat-boosting items before +6, because I just don't think it is necessary.
All on Thelanis: Archenpaul Sixblade (Epic Triple Completionist), Archernicus Thornwood, Crestellin Moonwood, Gregorovic Redcloak, Jaklomeo Evermug, Jarladdin Nalfesne, Jonathraxius Kane, and Praetoreus Silvershield (Heroic Triple Completionist, Epic Triple Completionist.)

Leader of Guinness Knights (Level 165), which is (since June 2021) a two-man, father-son guild.

    Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.

This is without a doubt more detail than you were looking for, but here's my gear plan for the fighter I just TRed. I'm going to go ahead and use this post as my cheat-sheet for this life, which is currently level 6. It's much easier to reference a forum post than the spreadsheet I normally keep this stuff in.

My guiding principle is to maximize power with minimal changes. There still ends up being a lot of regearing, but I no longer upgrade every item every other level. That got to be just too expensive. Instead, I go for "good enough" as early as possible and then keep it as long as reasonable.

I should point out that this fighter is a "pseudo paladin"; a 12/8 fighter/cleric. Fully a THF melee, plus some cleric buffs and self-heals. Thus the devotion and concentration gear.

Note also that I have a pair of reign rings you can't get anymore. (The bta rings for Reign of Madness chain rewards used to be ML1.)

The plan is to hit 25 each life, spending those 3 million xp on taking three different destinies to tier 4. By the time I get the fourth life capped (+3 stunning blow from past lives) I'll have all 11 destinies to 4 with legendary dreadnought capped for a total of 15 fate points. This will allow twisting in sense weakness, rejuvenation cocoon and brace for impact. Only then will I worry about "real" epic gear. Until then the commendation sets are fine for my purposes.

To that end, all gear listed above was already farmed up on his first life, and he got 4 destinies to 4. (LD, Shirardi, Primal, and Flowers.) And if you look closely, yes, that means I actually farmed up three Master's Gifts. heh.

i pretty much just wear whatever random loot gen gear i have until level 5. than i wear 3 piece Abishai set and whatever random loot gen gear. at 7 its red fens set sometimes and random loot gen gear. level 9 i wear the best random loot gen gear i can wear. at 11 its GS and the best random loot gen gear until 18. than i wear TOD set, GS and the best random loot gen gear until 20.

the beginning levels i don t bother trying to gear out unless i already have it from previous lives that i looted. i can casually get to level 4 in a couple hours. its not until level 9 and up i make sure i wear everything i need to be helpful for my build and the best + stat items. unless you grind hard, each level is going to take longer and longer to get through and content seems to start to get a bit more challenging around 10. leveling up a Paladin, obviously the most important items to wear is wisdom and charisma. everything else is just dps gear for leveling purposes.

unless you can cap before the enhancement changes go live, in August i think, i would wait. theres a lot of changes in enhancements.

    Level 11: +6 stat items
Level 12: Greensteel and a lot of other named items
Level 20: Epic gear, starting with eveningstar commendations

My first TR life is going to be paladin, I think. But I might wait for the enhancement pass.
I'm fairly routine about TRing but for the most part I only TR into the same class I was previously playing (to stack the past lives). I have one toon than I'm taking through 9 caster lives to get up spell pen + DCs and her gear is still a mess because I forgot to farm caster gear before TRing away from cleric.

On my trapper toons I cannith craft items for search, disable device, and open locks and I upgrade them every odd level without fail until +13. Then I swap over to lootgen or named gear that's "better". I've learned the hard way not to skimp on trapper crafting.

I cannith craft twink gear for level 1-7 or so. Armor (or robes) of Invulnerabilty + Lifeshield, a weapon of screaming + bleed, a trinket of melee alacrity 10%, etc. I also wear one Korthos set on each toon. I know this is vague, but these levels are all about showing up and just doing whatever your class does. You can pretty much play 1-7 with Korthos gear with one hand tied behind your back and badly hung over. The content is just that easy and it goes really fast.

At level 5 I slot in my Abashai set, usually 3 pieces. The rest of the slots continue to be my cannith crafted gear, except I add in my Voice of the Master, Mantle of the Worldshaper, and whatever Ioun stones I farmed on previous lives. Around this point I upgrade my cannith weapons to be ML:5.

At level 7 I add in my Red Fens gear. I can usually find a way to keep the abashai set bonus and still have one Fens set (although it depends a little on the class). If I can't, I usually slot two Fens sets. I usually keep my weapons at ML:5.

Around level 9-13 my gear tends to be in heavy transition. I grab my level 9 Nightforge Gorget and Nightforge Armbands (I farm these for ALL my toons). I throw on a Level 10 (or is it 11?) Cloak of Invisibility from Tempest spine. With the new augment system I've slotted them with heavy fort in the green slot. I then swap my neck to be my tier 2 Silver Flame necklace. At around this time my Lifeshield + Invulnerability armor tends to be looking pretty weak so I swap into appropriate armor from the Lordsmarch chains that's around ML 10. There's a set haste guard light armor, a set of heavy earth guard armor, and monk's robes, they're all BTA so I can swap around as needed. Also around this level is when I start using holy + pure good on my weapons instead of the lower level screaming/bleed. I will also usually start to carry named weapons (again, I'm fond of the weapons from Lordsmarch, even if they're not upgraded). When they're high enough level, I swap over to heroic dragonscale and the Sora Kell set (up?raded if they have it, otherwise i have one BTA set I can trade around). I also add in whatever greensteel they have.

From the point that they're in heroic dragonscale with greensteel I wear very little that's cannith crafted and instead just use the "obvious named items" from content around the right level. I carry my ioun stones from level 5 to Epic, and a cannith crafted melee alacrity trinket if the character melees. I know saying obvious named items doesn't help much but it varied by class and what I've looted. In general I end up with gear that either has a high drop rate or can be farmed through repetition of 3-10x (rather than 300x). This is why I have nightforge gear (just have to be willing to pick up a lot of adamantine) and Lordsmarch gear (high drop rates and people are usually willing to pass it). I don't tend to have good named items from Sands because I find them harder to get to drop. I do have a nice selection of upgraded items from the old Reaver's Fate raid (ml: 13) because I used to pike that regularly over level.

At 18 I have House C sets for all my toons, sometimes two (ex: fabricator and alchemist sets for clerics who melee). This finishes out heroic levels and does double duty to fill in for epic gear that may be weak. I may also have Tower of Despair sets (depending on the toon). I like to slot healing amp into the rings, this keeps them relevant to endgame (stacks with PDK gloves or Greater Convalescent). I do carry a few ToD belts/necklaces on each toon just for the clickes (Jump, Invisibility, Greater Heroism).

For epic gear I have commendation sets with both the basic armor and usually one set of set-bonded upgrade armor from the third chain. And I'll usually have a bunch of ml:18-22 gear to fill in, and another set of endgame epic ml:24-25 gear for raiding.
