Hidden Benefits of enhancements with mulitple ranks

There was no option to state this in the surveys, so I'm posting this here.

Consider an enhancement which is getting additional types of bonuses at higher ranks (eg. Halfling Companion, Halfling Stealthy).

You don't see these benefits unless you actually spend at least 2 points on the ability. It would be nice to have a preview of the higher ranks in the tooltip, e.g.:
"This bonus improves to +2/+3 Hide and Move Silently. At rank 3, throw attacks you perform from stealth deal additionally +1[W] damage."

This is a general issue for any enhancement (or epic destiny ability) with multiple ranks, but for these enhancements, the downside is that the abilities look worse than they actually are - it looks like the bonus is 'hiding' in rank 3, not wanting to be discovered.

Agreed. This problem exists for destinies as well. Allowing the user to see all ranks will greatly improve the ui.

The biggest "hidden gem" I saw was Ranger Spell Points or whatever it's called. Tier 1 Arcane Archer, looks like meh, sure, I'll take a rank, I guess, for an extra 30 spell points.

Rank 3 grants Magical Training! Echoes of friggin' Power from spending a few AP with no prereq. Woot! Even beyond the uberness that is Echoes, this makes the 3 tiers of Ranger spell points worth 30, 60, 180 spell points. Yep, tier 3 gives double with tier 1 & 2 give combined.

It's unfortunate that this user interface makes this impossible to know without spending a couple points at least temporarily. That means that anything above tier 1 (meaning at least 5 points spent in tree) is literally unknowable for any character leveling as the devs envision, spending 4 points at a time, for any tree they aren't focused on.

then I am again disappointed. Sure, I know someone's going to rattle on about how I'm asking bards to have Magical Training "for free" as if they don't already deserve it, but spending some of our precious few AP to get what we should already have is typically ridiculous.

For rangers, I agree this is very nice. I don't think they should have the magical training feat for free.

To clarify, Ellis, does this also give them the 5% critical? In other words, is the feat actually added to their feat list or does the enhancement just replicate the echoes portion?

I completely agree with this request. It is certainly an issue with many of the new enhancements, as well as many of the epic destiny abilities.

And particularly important where hidden ranks have pre-requisites (other than the previous rank that is). For example, Unyielding Sentinel - Shield Prowess.

THAT is something that would be a really nice change/addition..... There are far too many unknowns within DDO in these terms. Stuff you have to go searching for....

Feel free to avoid clutter by only showing full tooltips on abilities that have some differing tier values. If each tier is the same, don't really need a note for it.

May I suggest a layout?

Today is, e.g.:

"This ability grants 30 spell points."

And no information on the next ranks.

It could turn into:

"This ability grants 30/60/180 spell points. At rank 3 also gives the Magical Training feat."

But this one, although easy to understand for vets, can be harder for newbies.

So my suggestion is:

"This ability grants a bonus to your spell points:
Rank 1: 30 SP;
Rank 2: 60 SP;
Rank 3: 180 SP, plus the Magical Training feat."

That would be VERY useful.

You say "like to be able to". Is there a technical issue of some kind keeping you from doing this? Like a hard limit on the number of characters in a tooltip?

Also for epic destinies.

I know that Turbine is probably happy to have an astral shard/plat sink for people realizing they need to retrain and gain a tier3 they didn't know provided an increased benefit, but...

their stated goal is to make things easier for noobs that want to play Iconic Heroes and look at pretty skill trees.
