Default No Shards/Seals/Scrolls in EGH - Time to Unbind them for Desert

I have ransacked 8 toons every week for the past 1.5 months trying to get ONE seal. I've ransacked predominantly adq1, with some oob and chains ransacks. Still nothing.

Isn't it time to just unbind the darn ingredients in desert to work more in accordance with the unbound nature of epic items in high road, druid series, and now egh?

It is unbelievably frustrating with these abysmally low drop rates, when a friend has several of them that they won't be able to use. This way, a market would exist and I can give them something in exchange for it.

You've already done this with scrolls.

This will also allow us to have the old versions of the gear just in case we want to keep it before the new augment system is released.

    Do it

Don't do it! It is way too much fun to link him my epic pointy hat

On a more serious note, it makes a lot of sense, noone will run sands (aside from Cetus) just to get one pice of gear he wants now that the rest of the loot there is not competitive at end game anymore.

There are just way too many sands items to make a clean system out of it using the same scroll/seal/shard combo that the other epics use.

Personally, I would have split them from the start and had walkup seals/shards drop only in their respective quests. I would have just plain left out most of the explorer epics (the junk ones) and the ones left in would have had all their upgrades drop in DQ1.

You've got 2 chests in DQ2. Currently one drops items and shards and the other for some inexplicable reason drops lv 10 trash loot, even on epic. Put raid seals in that chest.

At any rate, that's not how it was done. At this point, I'd just remove the scroll/seal/shard system and drop completed items at a lower overall rate (low drop rate in side chests, higher drop rate in end chests). On EH and EE difficulties, raise the drop rate slightly and/or preslot some of them with augments perhaps. For example, in epic elite, preslot toughness in the epic armors with blue slots even if the augment isn't readily available as a drop yet, sort of like a sneak peek. You can overwrite it if you want. Preslot +7 stats or +2 insightful stats on epic elite colorless slots.

Them killing the drop rates for seals doesn't help and I completely agree, something needs to be done with epic dq items.

It would be nice if they would just start reworking epic gear from old sets slowly over time, one pack at a time. Take the current seal/shard/scroll item and make that the EN version of the item (for the most part, some are still good enough to be the EH or in a few cases the EE version perhaps) and then fill in the other two versions. Presto, loot becomes valid again and obtainable like the new model.

Same, ransacking out a bunch of toons for one seal as well. Pretty much crushing any desire to play the game. The thought of logging on is becoming associated with boredom, tedium and disappointment.

I'm in the same boat as well. Ransacking ADQ1 side chest, Wiz King, OoB, Chain of Flames for a Seal of the Whirlwind and nothing. Hell I even have the seal of the Ring of SS. It's not hard to make the seals and shards tradable like they did for the scrolls. Hell even if it is a 15 to 1 ratio that would be nice. We are already putting the time in, (in some cases more time then really needed) to get our seals and shards that we need.

Also, most "Epic" items suck. Most Epic items for all packs need to be revamped so people would have more variety in gear.

    Get it done.

I've been saying this a few times now, e.g.:

    http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p...88&postcount=8

Nothing is killing my enthusiasm for this game more than being continually skunked
on seals/shards. The criteria for obtaining a seal/shard were fulfilled, it was just
bad luck (uncontrollable) which was the difference between getting the one that
you wanted and one that you did not. I've literally got two large ingredient bags full
of seals/shards/scrolls but can probably only make two items from that.

Please add a 3:1 barter system. We know the tech is already there.

I don't think unbinding would be a solution as it's generally only a few specific seals
and shards which have high demand.

Similiar idea was posted earlier in different thread. See below.

All mats should be unbound. If GS stuff is, then the rest should. Make the item the rare thing to hunt for, not the mats. It just adds a mindless lottery untop of a lottery.

Now so more than ever. With the new loot changes coming, yes. It is time, please tell us you're doing SOMETHING about the abysmal scroll/seal/shard drop lotteries.
The mechanic is far more of a PITA than the items are even worth.

Do yourselves a favor, fix this and then more people will run them, and you can sell more of these packs. It's a win/win.

Nobody likes a random lottery, it's been proven over and over in a million threads here. Loot lottery is bad, gradual progress is good. All stick and no carrot is bad.
