Hello all,
Instead of hijacking the other thread I've decided to make this one and post my premature concept of an evasion paladin build. I plan on making this the 2nd life of my current barbarian. It's not something I will be doing very soon, as I've just started a TR life on another toon.
Some background information: I have only leveled two melees to cap, the barbarian and a rogue. All I know about paladins comes from the several forum threads that I've read and although I feel I have a good understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, the finer details of making this build have me a bit puzzled.
My idea behind this build is to have a highly survivable, self-healing melee character, while also taking advantage of some nice leveling gear that I've acquired. Since I have a torc on this character I figured a paladin would be a nice choice, since they actually use their spell points for dps (as opposed to say, a ranger). I want it to be a THF user, since I already have a good stock of two-handers for leveling and at cap and it's also my preferred game-play style.
So here is the updated the build (from post #11):
The feat order is a little bit all over the place due to having to time the monk martial feats. I would probably take PL: barbarian at 3, then swap it out for shield mastery just before taking level 14, so I could take toughness as the 2nd martial feat.Code:Character Plan by DDO Character Planner Version 03.16.01 DDO Character Planner Home Page Nnurgh Level 25 Lawful Good Human Male (2 Fighter \ 15 Paladin \ 3 Monk \ 5 Epic) Hit Points: 441 Spell Points: 209 BAB: 19\19\24\29\29 Fortitude: 27 Reflex: 17 Will: 20 Starting Ending Abilities Base Stats Base Stats (34 Point) (Level 1) (Level 25) Strength 17 26 Dexterity 10 13 Constitution 15 18 Intelligence 11 14 Wisdom 8 12 Charisma 15 18 Tomes Used +1 Tome of Intelligence used at level 2 +2 Tome of Intelligence used at level 6 +3 Tome of Intelligence used at level 10 +3 Tome of Strength used at level 11 +3 Tome of Dexterity used at level 11 +3 Tome of Constitution used at level 11 +4 Tome of Wisdom used at level 11 +3 Tome of Charisma used at level 11 Starting Ending Base Skills Base Skills Skills (Level 1) (Level 25) Balance 4 19 Bluff 2 4 Concentration 6 25 Diplomacy 2 4 Disable Device n/a n/a Haggle 2 4 Heal -1 1 Hide 0 1 Intimidate 2 26 Jump 7 13 Listen -1 1 Move Silently 0 1 Open Lock n/a n/a Perform n/a n/a Repair 0 2 Search 0 2 Spot -1 1 Swim 6 12 Tumble 1 2 Use Magic Device 4 15 Level 1 (Monk) Feat: (Human Bonus) Cleave Feat: (Past Life) Past Life: Barbarian Feat: (Monk Bonus) Power Attack Feat: (Selected) Toughness Level 2 (Paladin) Level 3 (Paladin) Feat: (Selected) Force of Personality Level 4 (Paladin) Level 5 (Paladin) Level 6 (Paladin) Feat: (Selected) Great Cleave Level 7 (Paladin) Level 8 (Monk) Feat: (Monk Bonus) Two Handed Fighting Level 9 (Paladin) Feat: (Selected) Improved Critical: Slashing Weapons Level 10 (Paladin) Level 11 (Paladin) Level 12 (Paladin) Feat: (Selected) Empower Healing Spell Level 13 (Paladin) Level 14 (Paladin) Level 15 (Paladin) Feat: (Selected) Quicken Spell Level 16 (Paladin) Level 17 (Paladin) Level 18 (Fighter) Feat: (Selected) Extend Spell Feat: (Fighter Bonus) Improved Two Handed Fighting Level 19 (Fighter) Feat: (Fighter Bonus) Greater Two Handed Fighting Level 20 (Monk) Feat: (Monk Path) Path of Harmonious Balance: Fists of Light Level 21 (Fighter) Feat: (Selected) Overwhelming Critical Level 22 (Fighter) Level 23 (Fighter) Level 24 (Fighter) Feat: (Selected) Improved Sunder Level 25 (Fighter) Enhancement: Fighter Haste Boost I Enhancement: Fighter Armored Agility I Enhancement: Fighter Critical Accuracy I Enhancement: Fighter Strategy (Sunder) I Enhancement: Human Adaptability Constitution I Enhancement: Human Greater Adaptability Strength I Enhancement: Human Improved Recovery I Enhancement: Human Versatility I Enhancement: Human Versatility II Enhancement: Human Versatility III Enhancement: Human Versatility IV Enhancement: Way of the Clever Monkey I Enhancement: Monk Improved Recovery I Enhancement: Paladin Courage of Good I Enhancement: Paladin Bulwark of Good I Enhancement: Paladin Resistance of Good I Enhancement: Paladin Resistance of Good II Enhancement: Paladin Resistance of Good III Enhancement: Paladin Divine Righteousness I Enhancement: Paladin Divine Sacrifice I Enhancement: Paladin Exalted Smite I Enhancement: Paladin Extra Lay on Hands I Enhancement: Paladin Extra Lay on Hands II Enhancement: Paladin Extra Smite Evil I Enhancement: Paladin Extra Smite Evil II Enhancement: Paladin Hunter of the Dead I Enhancement: Paladin Hunter of the Dead II Enhancement: Racial Toughness I Enhancement: Racial Toughness II Enhancement: Paladin Devotion I Enhancement: Paladin Devotion II Enhancement: Paladin Devotion III Enhancement: Paladin Devotion IV Enhancement: Paladin Charisma I Enhancement: Fighter Strength I Enhancement: Paladin Toughness I Enhancement: Paladin Toughness II Enhancement: Paladin Divine Might I Enhancement: Paladin Divine Might II Enhancement: Paladin Divine Might III Enhancement: Paladin Extra Turning I Enhancement: Paladin Extra Turning II Enhancement: Paladin Improved Turning I Enhancement: Paladin Improved Turning II
My main questions are around the prestiges and, by extension, the feat choices. I took shield mastery so I could qualify for DoS, which I believe to be the more well rounded prestige. The other option would be KotC, which would free up a feat. However, the fact that it only applies to evil outsiders makes me not like it as much as DoS.
If I go the DoS route, I could take improved shield mastery and either GTHF or bastard sword proficiency.
If you've managed to read this far, I would like to thank you first. Second, I would appreciate any comments and insights you may have.
