They pretty much speak for themselves.

That colorless slot empty or not adds to the ML if I understand correctly. Post next to DEX+4/Sup Stability item with no slot.
Toons on Orien:
Daemonav Atreides: WF artificer (TR 2/14)////Irullan Atreides: human FvS (TR 2/?!?)////Lorrellei Atreides: human ice/acid sorcerer////Aliademon Atreides: elf PM necro/enchant wizzie (TR 2/8)
Wow, that's a massive buff to cannith crafting if the low level augments are worth using.
What's the ML on a heavy fort augment, again? And what color?
8 and Blue. A free blue slot will add +2 to the enhancement value of the item, or 3 or 4 minimum levels to using the item. Adding Heavy Fortification without the use of a slot increases the enhancement value by 5, adding 9 or 10 minimum levels to the item.
This is a huge win for Cannith Crafting.

Everything good doesn't last long.
Dont say I didnt warn you.
Not quite as good as it looks. The purely crafted version of the item above (with master craftsmanship) would only have been ML 17.
All items with slots will have an ML 2, 4 or 6 higher compared to an unslotted item (depending on whether it is colourless, RYB or OGP).
Because of this, items with the combined colours (OGP) are probably going to be worthless after the initial rush. Why have to wait 2 levels when you can get an item with a dedicated colour (RYB). For most builds, a little bit of versatility on what you can slot is normally poor payback.
I normally try to fit one cannith crafted item into my endgame gearsets for the stacking +20 hp. (I also use a spell point guild augment but only as a shrine swap for buffs.)
I'm now thinking I might rather have a multi-augment item for that one cannith crafted slot. Two insightful +2s is tempting.
That'd be one way to look at it, I suppose. Not in love with being told for months that 'oh, crafting is still useful because flexible', then having em turn around and give away about the only flexible ones I ever found any use for, for far less effort and at a far lower ML.
It also hasn't escaped my attention that spellpower shards are still capped at 66 and require purified shards.
Still, for +4 levels, and tossing out a +5 in favor of a +2 or +3, being able to tack on a spellpower to a dps weapon is likely to be of assistance to the off-casters, like bards and palies, and rangers, so there's that.

but wait.. are items that had guild augment slots going to be able to be converted? I have a toon that is nothing but a bank for slotted items..
