Default What Adventure pack to by for solo/duo play?

    Hi,

I am working guy who plays mostly solo, has only 1 toon on each server, and usually has only a short time to play (from 30 mins to 2 hours).
Now my toons are on levels 2-11. I play 3 or 4 of them "actively".
First pack I got was Gianthold, but as you can see I am not there yet.
Then I bought Sorrowdusk Isle, Tangleroot and at last Red Fens. These have seen some action.
Tangleroot is a bit boring, especially the slayer.

I have farmed a little over 300 TP again, and with the 250TP coupon that means that I can get a new Adventure pack from the price range 250-550 TP.
What pack would you recommend for me?
-BtA items are not important for me as I don't have alts at the same server.
-I will propably never be going into a Raid (too long, hate jumping, timing and other action elements).
-I play mostly solo, and only one of my toons can remove traps.

There are 19 adventure packs to choose from at this price range from Catacombs and Reaver's Reach to Devils of Shavarath and Druids deep.

Id say the best around that lvl range would be deleras and demon sands(not sure on the prices though)Deleras is only up to lvl 8 so kinda limited there but demon sands could take you into gianthold easily

deleras has a nifty trinket that gives +1 saves and a 5% xp boost
demon sands has a huge wilderness area(good for solo xp)and a ton of really nice items that drop from quests and wilderness areas

Ouch those are kinda pricey,id go with anything that is around your lvl if you dont have time to farm the TP.

I usually lvl my toons from demon sands>gianthold>necro 4<vale of twilight.

Ive never grouped so those wilderness areas help a ton.Good luck with your choice

What are your toons ? I mean, for instance, necro 2 is very nice for arcances, but not good at all for others...

Personaly I would never choose Catacombs, I bought it and I am regreating each life, boring, extremely boring

Phiarlan is not a bad choice and the epic choice is always handy in a future

You can also check this thread by Sirgog, it's not updated but not much has changed since it was, still valid and really helpful information that would help you buy what you need

Solo play is much more dependent on your character build than wich adventure pack you are running. Most adventure packs include at least 1-2more challenging quests, often with really nasty traps. If you dont know location of traps in a quest, likely many will multi-hit you, that even on hard can be a wipe.

I'm a fan of the Phiarlan Carnival pack as well. My only reservation for recommending it is some of the quests are rather long for someone exploring and learning which may be an issue if play time is limited. For something a bit higher level, Attack on Stormreach has fun quests which tie in nicely with the 3 free ones that start the story line.

Thank You for the suggestion so far.

My oldest toon is pure cleric on Ghallanda I usually run only with my brother, like once a month.
I got a level 9 paladin in Khyber, where I get access to high level guild ship because of my nationality.
This really makes solo play easier.
I also have a lvl 7 rogue soon-to-be assassin in Thelanis.
Also a cleric, ranger, fighter and other paladin(s?) on other servers.
So, no arcanes yet. Many melee toons. Two of my paladins have won True hearts of wood on MyDDO lottery a couple of weeks ago.

With Catacombs or Necro I, II or III I would get enough silverflame favor to get more movement speed in public areas. Not a big deal, I guess.

Phiarlan Carnival has some not so fun looking jumping in the Small Problem, and the number of quests is small, so I am a bit reluctant.

I have read the link. It is still missing Attack on Stormreach, Sentinels of Stormreach, Harbringer of Madness, Reign of Madness and of course Druid's Deep, and the focus is very different from my own. Highly informative anyway.

If you're mainly solo, I suggest you get this pack. IMO, it's one of the best casual-friendly and solo-friendly packs in the game. The quests are very well designed, every quest in the chain is solo-friendly, and on top of that, the named rewards are simply amazing for its level and ease of obtaining (ie. no grinding involved since completion of the chain 3 times gives you a completion reward list with many of the named items in the chain).

The only catch is that its a lvl 15 pack, but the quests on casual can be done by a lvl 13 without much trouble. It's only 450 tp, so with the 250 tp coupon it will only cost you 200 tp.

    Examples of rewards :

Turbulent Epee : general purpose DR breaker, it has *both* metalline and align!

Bow of Sinew : crit profile of a kopesh plus built in seeker (and align to boot!)

Actualy I think that's Phiarlan Favor reward, 150 Favor Pendant of Time

    http://ddowiki.com/page/Favor#House_Phiarlan

Carnival is from Phiarlan, but if you have Tangleroot that's enough, TR alone on elite is 99 Favor with the F2P quests you can complete the 150 easily

It can be boring but it's easy XP and favor. If you are TRing, it's tough to leave Catacombs XP on the table. The only really bad quest is Dryden, but it's degree of annoyingness definitely depends on your build. Arcanes can get through it pretty fast but it will be a serious grind for rogues.

    Thank You to all.

In the end I chose Harbringer of Madness, even tho the quests seem to be a bit long.
At that level most quests are, I guess.

I may buy the catacombs when I actually have a TR.
Assault on Stormreach can also wait.

And yes, I was confused about silver flame favor.
It gives better regeneration at the public areas, and that is not important to me at all.

Aw, I wish I'd seen this thread earlier. With all your pallies and rangers, I think you would have gotten much better value out of Attack on Stormreach. The sora kell set is the bee's knees for divine melees, and healbot clerics, even. Also, vampiric cleavers are great for first life pallies.

If 3-Barrel-Cove hadn't gotten so expensive then I'd recommend it, too.
Some prices have really increased in the recent time.
I usually solo most of the time, too.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

    Question

... Dreaming Dark is 40 % off now, is it solo friendly ? The Turbine description says yes, but since I don't own it, I really can't say, of course ...

    Any thoughts ?

Not sure why you would even consider "Reaver's Reach to Devils of Shavarath and Druids deep" given their levels.

I think the better question you should be asking group is why you are not progressing on certain builds. Look at the builds you consider "active" and go from there. As an alt junkie I can appreciate the server jumping and having many but if I may ask, why only 1 per server? You can have two and you should/could be using one to help get gear for the next new and improved one. Sorrowdusk Isle, Tangleroot and Red Fens, all have good gear for you to grow with and some nice xp and can be solo material by many classes. So if these are not working for you not sure what will.
