The bug list is certainly growing. Aside from that, its hard to find much growth that is meaningful.
The "Spaghetti Monster of Code" exists beause the major partner (Atari, for newcomers) pushed to release the game 6 months ahead of schedule, unfinished (therefore probably poorly documented), and then only paid for one or two pressings of the original boxed release. After that they just siphoned cash from Turbine, even forcing a couple of increases in their rakeoff by threatening to remove the D&D license from DDO.

Couple this with at least one nearly complete turnover in programming staff and you have the probable inspiration for the "Fear Factory" chain...
