Default DDO is dead. Waiting for 2.0

In my humble opinion the current version of DDO is about dead. The developers have done a tremendous job at maintaining life support but the end is near.

With the current list of Official bugs http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=150534 and the unofficial list http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=38946 growing every time something is adjusted or touched I can see no end in sight to the cycle of add, repair, repair.

I have stopped spending money on the game but will continue to play on the corpse like an ant on a watermelon rind.

When DDO 2.0 is released I will be the first in line to play. See you then.

If you're going to waltz up here and make such an astounding declaration Mr. Coroner, at least have decency to not stink of hypocrisy.

How long have you stopped spending money on it? Do you even have money to spend on it? Why are you being so dramatic? What's got you so down, Charlie Brown? We got people on Argo who specialize in giving out hugs.

Now that you mention it... it does seem like the OP could use a hug. Good observation.

Ive been reading posts just like this for 3 years.

    "DDO is dead"
    "the game is unplayable"
    "Clerics are unplayable"
"Turbine hates people that play clerics"
"Palemasters are uplayable because of the "nerf" of one spell, so Im leaving"
"Casters are unplayable because you screwed us by making a level 4 spell perform like it's supposed to, and Im leaving.............but I may be back"
    "Turbine hates PM players"
"Turbine hates Ranger toons, so Im leaving but I ll hang around and still play the game"
    "people are leaving in droves",
"I hate this game, but I will stay play it"
"Turbine is purposely trying to screw me over, but Im still gonna play and Ill show them"
"Im leaving for SWTOR and it's a much better game and everyone else is leaving too"
"Im leaving for Diablo3 and it's a much better game and everyone else is leaving too"
"Im leaving for GW2 and it's a much better game and everyone else is leaving too"
"This is the only game that has bugs and lag, so Im leaving for another"
"Turbine is losing money left and right and they will go under soon"
"The Devs don't know anything about coding and building a game"
"your selling +3 tomes in the store and people are leaving in droves because of it"
    "The game is too hard"
    "The game is too easy"
"ive got 50 past lives and every piece of top end gear that can be found and the game is too easy and it's turbines responsibility.
"I wanted the shroud to be made more difficult and when you made it more difficult, you are purposley trying screw me over. And now it's too hard and Im leaving for good
    "my porage is too hot"
    "my porage is too cold"
"This bowl of porage just plain sucks and Im leaving for little red riding hood's hood"

The same stuff that was posted 3 years ago, but we have seen new content released regularly since, and they topped it off with an expansion pack, followed by more content"

And next year, the cycle will start all over again after each and every update, patch, and hotfix.

People who say this kind of thing now are laughable. Maybe if you'd said this in the Long Dark Times prior to F2P, you'd've had a point but not now. The game is thriving, healthy and has a few more bugs than usual at the moment.

While the List of Bugs is atrocious, no doubt.

The game is far from Dead.

However, if the influx of funds and players is to be believed, a DDO2 in the works, or planned, might be a better choice then to try and rework the "Spaghetti Monster of Code" (MadFloyd's phrasing) that DDO is, and simply build a better, more streamlined game code, so that additions and improvements do not cause such conflicts as they are now.

Given the success that DDO has, and one of the larger Turn offs was the Ebberon Campaign Setting, since they have the Rights now to to Forgotten Realms, they could just start there and grab an even larger player base of DnD fans.

There is a lot to be said about the advantages of a DDO2, but, none the less, DDO is so far removed from Dead it's growing.

I'd not recommend DDO to my friends or even a stranger since MotU came out.

Correctional Service Specialist. 14 years on the job. That is called a career.

To Memnir: Never said I was leaving. Ralphie must be your friend. The guy in camo is an inmate and I am the tiger. Nice video.

To LOOON375: Set it to music and you might give Johnny Cash a run for his money.

To Dwarfo: What is this? A voice of reason?

To slimkj: A few more bugs? Guess you did not look at the links.

To Qhualor: Could be. Hope something is done to get people out of there caves.

When did I first see a call for DDO 2.0... 2008 or so I think it was.

Funny thing is... Asheron's Call is still being ran/supported.
