Regarding the post above me, I have to say it is a huge over-reaction to quit a game based on what someone said Fernando told them at PAX. Gauging the community reaction, it's almost certain that they will not go through with it exactly as reported.

Thank you sir. I will most definitely be asking for a refund the day U11 comes out if a certain class is unattainable. Given how customer service for most companies work, if I complain for about two-three hours, I will probably get it too just so they can get me off the phone.

Besides - they had to have known that this would cause a tumult amongst the players. Had to.

No, they might not have known. It could be one of the side effects of "living in the future".

You see, when Fernando and other devs look at DDO, they see the version that's in progress now, with U11 finished and U12 mostly done and parts of U13 floating around. To them, it does look as if Artificers is honestly just a favor unlock, the TP option is just for people who are lazy.

That's a pitfall of being close to your work: you won't always see it like the public does. It takes conscious effort to put yourself in those shoes.

Well... another option which might be more effective is an all out shutting out any artificer from joining your group, gear/xp grind, guild and/or raid.

That's not fair the pay as you go's who have nothing to do with the situation. Not to mention how much does turbine pay attention to the things that actually occur in game? Something like that wouldn't even be noticed.

Bait and Switch Fraud might be a little tricky to prove. Yes in their advertising of VIP plans they advertise access to all content however I would bet dollars to donuts that there is some sort of 'out' clause like "Terms and agreements subject to change without notice."

Also 'notice', such as it was, has been given(ish):

Artificers will not be free to VIPs upon the release of Update 11, although they will be unlockable through favor to people regardless of account type upon the release of Update 12.

Bait and switch is illegal, yes. However, all they need to do is qualify arti's as a favor class, which they are, and there is nothing illegal about it regardless if enough favor is not available at release.

By all means put forth a formal complaint if you want, nothing wrong with that. It will give feedback. Me, I've got larger worries than stressing over what I am or am not getting in game for free.

I think that if players in game realize they're going to have a hard time leveling up and gearing end game while on their artificer during u11 it gets a point across and sets a precedent for what is likely the occur the next class they roll out that is pay-only to unlock.

Yes it's a passive aggressive move but I think it accomplishes more than rage quitting.

Becuase Turbine makes these games for free. No money to make them. *rolls eyes*

I really like that arty will be earnable for free when it is fully available. I like that it is optional to earn it through tp. This way anyone can have their cake and eat it too.

Also, leaving it locked for favor allows players time to equally unlock the free version.

I don't mind where the info came from. Like memnir said, he would have said something about confidentiality if it was on the down low.

One of the interesting aspects of this unlock is it is house C favor unlockable. Not total favor.

To claim that the U11 Artificer class will be a favor unlock is not "just pointing out facts". It isn't a fact unless it was true.

I don't think he is being rude, just frustrated, because the simple fact is Yes, it does say what you posted from the VIP page, but remember also like he said, when update 11 launches the simple fact is Artificers will not be "earn free" since update 12 will not be here.

The simplest solution is for Turbine to edit there VIP page with something like "terms of VIP subject to change", or actually change that page before the update launches.


Or for a turbine customer service member talk more in length about this decision and about how there customers feel about it. Isn't Turbines motto, Powered by Our Fans.

I think a general population will fall prey to this tactic and pay for the class. I liked the class but if Turbine will use sneaky and underhanded tactics to pass the buck then they get none of my dough...they certainly don't deserve it.

Upon further thought I realize that when it comes out it will be prolly be buggy and somehow break the game for a few days, so buying it would be a waste of money. Just sayin...
